You just can't get the point. Yes, the airlines are responsible for security - enforcing security regulations that the FAA puts forth. They did not violate FAA directives. But what is the excuse for the airlines having to detect terrorists on our domestic flights? Terrorists with expired visas? The government is responsible for keeping these people out. A couple of them were even under watch when they boarded the Dulles flight. And don't think for a minute profiling would have worked. The airlines are receiving grief for that post 9-11.

On domestic flights why should the airlines have to profile unless the government has let people into the country they shouldn't have.

I can't think of a single airline that isn't unionized. Nope. Perhaps someone should ask Southwest management how they do it.

Southwest does all they can to contain costs--including salaries--while making for a "fun" place to work.
They've found the "fun" doesn't cost nearly so much in dollars, and is worth a lot to the employees.

You know, I have felt this in my bones for the longest time; and it still might happen. CEO Carty sure has made it known in the media that even a ratification of the TA doesn't guarantee there won't be a Chapter 11 filing, which baffles me beyond all frustration *why* so many people voted for it!! Of course, the gracious extension by Carty to the flight attendants to rethink and change their votes is such a blatant violation of integrity. It is so reminiscent of algore's attempt to "count all the votes."
Anyway, so we will be on the street. I feel almost pity for the folks who voted for this MOAB of concessions, as most still don't see how this is one of the worst decisions any union has ever made in the industry. And as always, this is simply my opinion.
But I have a question for the FReepers who are in the know, as I have little knowledge regarding stocks, but specifically...what is available to the public regarding access to executives' buying & selling histories?...
Where can that information be found online? Obtaining something like this for free would be best, as the ink is no doubt dry on our walking papers.
I ask this because something does not make sense to me. I did a little searching on my own, and found out that Mr. Carty purchased 30,000 shares of company stock on March 31, 2003. I suppose he had some $700,000 + dollars to play around with the same day he was meeting with the unions to hash out the TA to the union reps? Isn't this supposed to be a company on the skids, and doomed to bankruptcy, etc., etc...? What am I missing? Did I misread this?
And Meek...should you hear anything in your area on your local news (please let me know)...I was told some investigative reporter in the DFW area uncovered something about management's pensions being untouchable? Something that was recently drawn up, like within the past year, to protect Carty & Company's retirement funds from a bankruptcy judge?
Good grief...

Thank you, Meek.
I looked at the link, and well...I'm in need of some help regarding understanding this stuff a little more.
I don't have enough time to post a new topic right now, (we need to sell our house asap, so will be cleaning house today) but I think I might start a link a little later today regarding the following:

I owe the AMR union employees an apology for my previous post.
Un-freeekin believable, the pricks. It's legal, but it is not right.
Best of luck, even to you commie bastards.
Cheers.
