Earlier today, the pilots union and transport workers union approved the concession agreements that called for up to 17.5 percent wage cuts, benefit cuts and some layoffs. Anyone want to bet that the executives didn't have to face this choice ?

I wish more people had your insight. It seems everyone wants to hate their boss and in the airlines they don't even have to work with him and see him on a daily basis, but they still use adhominem arguments to condemn him.

Right on. This is capitalism at work. Only the strong survive. If they can't cut the mustard, they go out of business. Just like the rest of us....I can't go to Congress with my hand out if my business starts failing. We already handed out way too much money to these clowns. And, now they come sauntering back blaming everything else except their own policies. I have flown many times in the past year....on Jet Blue & South West. The other airlines need to fold....then re-open without the goonions!

"Stewardesses were cracking jokes and singing songs over the loudspeakers."
The last time we flew SW everyone was cutting up, from the pilots to the counter people on the ground. It makes a difference!

I challenged you to think before you reply. Are you capable of it? Tell me what security rules the airlines violated on 9/11.

You're right. The executives didn't have to face pay cuts of 17.5 percent.
Their pay's been cut 30%.

I don't think so. A similar bill was introduced in the Senate and Frist spiked it two days later. It's DOA, especially with public opinion.

Jet Blue sold their collective souls to make a deal with Airbus, and the bill will come due at the five year mark. They're doing well now, but... those airplanes are maintenance intensive and they have balloon payments coming due. That bit of intel brought to you by my pilot husband...

Praying for the best.
When a company goes to court to shed union contracts
it can't meet, and stiffs creditors for what it owes, what
is it, exactly, that you ask God to do?

You have got to be kidding. Southwest is only pleasurable if you like riding in a cattle car. Also, they board by the order you arrive, not by loading from the back of the plane first. So you get traffic jams in the aisle. People will trade a lot for a low fare.
Also, who the hell cares about a reserved seat? And, if you can't get to the airport an hour in advance, then maybe you ought to sit in the middle seat.
No traffic jams on SW when I fly; I get to my window seat in the first boarding group just fine.

I just guess I expect better on this site.

and since Airbus = France, then I won't be flying with JetBlue.

I'm not going to go through the gyrations of the Bubba administration and their complicity with this. The bottom line is that on 9-10-01 the airlines were 90% responsible for the security at all airports. They failed. The 10% responsibility of the FAA was a joke since there was only 1 inspector for every 20 airports nationwide. The bottom line is the CEOs of AMR and UAL committed manslaughter and allowed to walk. If you or I ran a small company and our product enabled the murder of customers due to obvious negligence we would be in jail.

"So if you partially blame the airlines for 9/11, then I take it that you also partially blame the military for the looting that took place at that Baghdad museum?"
BOVINE SCATTALOGY. The military was not responsible for that. They never claimed "100 percent control" of Baghdad. Only the media did that. Please, take those bogus premises to DU where they would be respected.

JetBlue and Southwest are goonion too... Not likely. Southwest has been profitable in every year of its existence, except one, and that's 31 years. I don't know about Jet Blue.
You've got a burr under your saddle about SW, for some reason.
To: Illbay
Wow...not even Tommy and Linda Daschle could help them, eh?
