"ChronWatch’s List of War Heroes: Our First Try"

Posted by Tom Sparkman Tuesday, April 15, 2003

ChronWatch recently ran a story about the Big Losers of the Iraqi War, which was a big hit on this site. It was also posted on some other sites, where it was equally popular and generated lots of comments. On the Free Republic discussion site, members expanded the list to nearly eighty losers, and suggested that ChronWatch should draw up a companion version: ChronWatch's List of Winners following the Iraqi conflict. Below is our first try at nominating the big winners of the war. Can you think of others?

To review ChronWatch's previous articles about the losers,

go to: http://www.chronwatch.com/content/contentDisplay.asp?aid=2221 and http://www.chronwatch.com/content/contentDisplay.asp?aid=2280&catcode=24).

We spend a lot of time on discussing what went wrong and what we could have done better. Every once and a while, we should stop and honor those that have done well. Here's my first attempt...

How many more can you think of?

+ Patriot Missile System

I wouldn't call it a winner, granted it did blow some scuds out of the sky, but it also took out some friendlies.

ChronWatch is a great site. Its main purpose is to counter the ultra liberal rag, the SF Chronicle. But it has a lot of good stuff from the conservative side. Sort of a poor man's Free Republic. I read Chron watch every day.

Winner: The Kuwaiti Stock Market/Economy (through the roof)
Loser: The Turkish Stock Market/Economy (into the basement)

...or, in other words...

Winner: Forward-looking, engaged, opportunity seeking optimism.
Loser: Backward-looking, dour and fearful pessimism.
