A report in the Daily Mail claims 'other sources have independently told this newspaper that Moscow has already smuggled the dictator out of Baghdad in a convoy led by the Russian Ambassador and bombed, unsuccessfully by the Americans.'
The article says that according to inelligence reports, Saddam and his son were travelling in a convoy to Syria along Highway 11 in Iraq.
The Central Intelligence Agency ordered United States Delta Force to the scene.
'The field agents got there first and ordered the convoy to stop. When this order was refused the Americans opened fire. Then the soldiers arrived,' the report says.
It then further reports: 'By this time it was established that this was a convoy led by the Russian Ambassador Vladimir Titorenko. With a diplomatic disaster in the offing, a ceasefire was hurriedly ordered.'
The report quotes Russian sources, saying that Saddam and his son Uday then went across the Syrian border to safety.

hehhehheh....
It can be a good thing that he "survived."
We can then have "saddam sightings" at convenient locations as an excuse for blowing them to hell and back.
Ohhhh....there he is visiting Assad's palace in Syria. Blam. (shucks...missed again.)
Wow!...there he is at a convocation of "palestinians" in Yemen. Blam. (shucks...missed again.)

BS.
But, I was expecting this to be a DEBKA report. I was surprised.
To: ewing
Their remains were in the glove box of the lead car.

FYI.
To: ewing
In Syria, on his way back to Russia with Iraqi information and
maybe even Saddam which and who are to be kept from America, this Russian diplomat
feigned an attack to cover his sequestration of critical info.
His head is bandaged but there is no blood. There is no trauma, no bruising, no contusion,
and his friend has what appears to be a military tattoo on his arm where he also feigns injury. But, there is no
laceration, no bruise, no swelling, no bleeding, etc.
Perhaps most telling about the tale is the Russian's smile on the ambulance, when caught offguard.

What nonsense. You think Bush is going to let Saddam go just because he is in some Ambassador's car? What a joke.

Has anyone heard what was found (body wise) in the rubble of the house we hit believing that Saddam was inside?....Did the Coalition Forces go to that area to examine bodies recovered?
To: ewing
If, true, looks like we may be going into Syria unless they give him up.

Should this article be true, and I am skeptical, the Russians failed to follow the first rule of economics: Never invest in anything that eats.

Not that I've heard of but I'm still among those who maintain that saddam is dead. As a doornail. It is
unimaginable to me that we wouldn't have locals on the
payroll who not only confirmed the location but are privy
to the remains.

It is curious to me that the recovery of bodies from that building has just fallen off the map.....how many bodies were recovered, and where are those bodies, etc.??

Loftus reiterated on B & A last night that he was certain SH was dead. He didn't say anything more about this convoy. I think Loftus revealed last week all that's important to know about this convoy and that's that our intelligence intercepted a lot of incriminating files further defining the nexus between Russia and Iraq.

Events are coming so quickly that the media is actually having difficulty keeping this particular thread going. The media is like a monkey jumping from one thread to another. The theory most in vogue at the moment is saddam sightings, speculations and defectors' stories. The best part of this is the exposure some countries are getting, Russia being the most widely broadcast. Doesn't deter me from: saddam is dead.
