Self rifled. I'm punching holes into paper here, don't feel the need to pay too much to do it. ;)

By "failure" I assume you're talking about a jammed gun? I don't shoot competition, so some of the lingo escapes me.

I had a lot of "failures" with my Walther P99 which I just traded in on my Walther P88 compact. The reason: The gun was top heavy and I, at 47 years old and the beginning onset of arthritis, admit to having weak wrists.

Neither my Beretta nor my P88 have ever jammed with thousands of rounds total going through each. An astute instructor showed me thumb placement to offset the wrist problem, plus both guns are balanced beautifully.

I believe that if a woman is matched with the proper equipment instead of believing the macho hype of "bigger is better," she will gain more confidence as a shooter and suffer fewer "failures."

Yep. Any throwing/grappling/manipulative art is going to be a terrible disadvantage for a woman. That's why I teach a particularly nasty percussion art called Wind Fist (Feng Chuan Tao). As I said before, a well trained woman can usually trash a larger untrained man, but with equal training, reach and power are big advantages. Testosterone also gives superior speed.

I assume that is IF he obeys the rules.

They just have different learning curves.

I stand somewhat corrected. I don't shoot competition, nor do I follow it, because no matter how well I shoot (and I'm pretty good), I will always have the self-esteem problem of thinking that I'm not good enough.

I sincerely believe, because women do "take" to instruction more readily, that if there were more women in the sport of competitve shooting, you would see that women would overtake men in the accuracy category. Because there are far fewer women, the competition, by sheer numbers alone, is not as stiff.

There's a latent talent out there that needs to be tapped. Too bad that the attitudes of some posters here (you are *not* included in this statement) is precisely what prevents women from becoming experienced shooters.

a patient gave it to her in lieu of cash payment.

That happens to lawyers, too. My dad has gotten some pretty strange stuff in lieu of payment over the years. Including six live chickens and a .32 pistol (not at the same time!).

I had a client knit me an afghan once. It's beautiful, and I keep it on the easy chair in my living room.

By failures I am saying they were unable to quailfy. All Marine recruits are volunteers, so they were more than aware that they would be using a firearm. This is with an M-16.

My bad...again, being ignorant of technical jargon, I misunderstood.

I have no experience with an M-16, but I do with a Mini-14. It's an exceptional rifle.

The capture of Jessica Lynch and Shoshana Johnson and the fact that a significant percentage of our casualties came from a maintenance company does not support the foolish myth of the American Amazon.

Confused logic alert and math deficiency alert. Most of the personell in the maintenance company were MEN, including most of the ones who are now dead. Most of the ones captured were men as well. Furthermore, the way he worded it makes it sound like he's got something against maintenance companies as he illogically and lamely tries to equate "maintenance company" to two individual soldiers who happen to be women.

Classic Vox Day illogic, though. At least he's dependable.
