"Today's (Wednesday's) vote by the U.S. House of Representatives was shameful. It boggles the mind that any industry, never mind the gun industry, would be given sweeping immunity from citizen lawsuits.
"This legislation would slam the courthouse doors to people who have been wronged. Americans cherish their right to seek redress from the courts, and this legislation would take that right away from gun violence victims who deserve better.
"I urge the U.S. Senate not to make the same awful mistake the House made today. The gun industry seeks to avoid accountability because it knows it makes it easy for criminals to get guns. And the losers would be Americans who have already made enormous sacrifices."

Any gun company which went out of business did so because they allowed themselves to be lead to the slaughter like a steer. I hear what you're saying with this post, but really, companies like S & W need to grow a set of schnuts when it comes to this crap. They chose to bend over and grab their ankles, they must accept at least a small part of the blame for their predicament....

I think you're on to something.

Just for my own enlightenment.
What happened with the agreement S&W signed with the clinton administration. Last I heard there was no written agreement recinding the agreement but it was just not being enforced. (is it still owned by the english?)

May she be cured of her cancer so she has more time to see the light... May her journey into the light be hastened as payment for exploiting the pain and suffering of others for her own ego and financial gain.

Oh, how I miss those wonderful press conferences! I cannot remember if he ever took questions. If so, did an American (outside of Palestine Hotel) ever ask him a question?

All excellent questions that I would also like answers to.
But not knowing that, i do know that little Sarah Brady skirted her own law while buying a 22 long for her son. Or something real close to that story. Maryland/Virginia state lines also had a role in little Mrs. Brady's dalience into illegal gun purchasing.
Anyone have a couple of links? I think it was just this last Christmas buying season when she pulled it off, and then she claimed ignorance of "the law"!!!!!!!!!!!

What the hell does this have to do with Smith and Wesson?
Do you have a business that can be sued by every city, state and county in America just because your product worked?

You cant sue someone who has negligible responsibility for the claim. (ie you can't sue the criminal's mother for giving birth.)
That's a good one. Especially for the soccer moms. It would probably cause them to think about the puppet masters that have been jerking their emotional chains. Unfortunately they'll never hear about the issue unless the Senate votes against H.R. 1036 and the mega lawsuits take center stage.

Some how I don't believe her. If she could get or insure that kind of immunity for her activist group or their allies
she would do it in a heartbeat, mindboggling be damned.
It's a bad bill Jim, let it die.
Ok Bones.

It wasn't a .22. It was a centerfire rifle. She didn't quite circumvent the law because interfamily transactions can be made as long as they're gifts.

If you get into a car accident, do you sue every car company in the country?
Do the cities and states sue the car industry for the "damage" to the pavement?
Do you sue a car company because the car does exactly what it was designed to do.
Do you sue the care company for the express desire so they'll go out of business?

There should be a ban on suits which are intendended to force settlement instead of trial. Such "slap" suits should be outlawed as a waste of judicial time.
