[history]
April 12 Hashmia Jassim has such a desperate need to talk about her life as a bug that she beckons three passing strangers into her dwelling. By doing so, she is abandoning an ironclad norm of behavior for a Shiite woman. She pushes the curtain aside that separates the womens quarters, and, worse, even draws her male guests in by gentle tugs at their wrists. The touch is shocking here in southern Iraq, from a woman of 54 in a black chador.

Sitting here reading this story about a family torn apart, sons forced to fight in wars, one son murdered by a butcher, their home bombed by American and coaltion forces and with all of that....they are not angry....they are greatful to be free. It really makes you think....and it makes me thankful for my freedom!

If this poor, but incredibly brave woman's story doesn't bring rage to the heart and tears to the eyes, then that is a heart made of stone. My tears are for her and her family. My rage is for the international Left, whose sole purpose in life is to grind individual human beings beneath big government's heel. Whether it is "softly" via Euro-American style socialism or harshly via repressive centralized governments, the cruelty of the Left, and it's hatred for the rights of the individual, knows no bounds.
The United States Declaration of Independence, and the Constitution of the United States, are documents which uphold the principle that the rights of the individual are superior to the rights of the state. Leftist dogma, in all its many guises, is the exact opposite of the principles on which this nation was founded.

Even more incredible than the story is the fact that MSNBC/Newsweek would actually print it.

They should know that, at least as far as Hashmia Jassim is concerned, they did the right thing. This is a great story, in the sense that it's important for it to be told (so that the last 2-3 people on the planet who don't know about Saddam's reign of terror and torture will now know the truth).
Only the last sentence bugs me a little. Do others feel the same? He seems to be saying, "Well, there's at least one person who thinks the liberation was good." That's a strange understatement. It's as if the author wants to allow for the possibility that there are only a handful of people who support the war while an overwhelming majority disapprove. If that's what he wants to say then he should just say it -- no need to be coy or indirect.

Leftist dogma, in all its many guises, is the exact opposite of the principles on which this nation was founded. The enduring spirit of this women in the face of such torment and pain is exactley why we as a Nation will always prevail. Even though she lives a world away, in her, lives the spirit that makes America unique and the greatest nation in the history of mankind.
The power of this nation lies in the aggregate strength of the individuals that think like her...the world over. We are the beacon of freedom and draw energy from all who think 'American'...
The Facist and Socialist regimes of the world will never ever truly gain predominance...because their power arises out of cohercion and deception, and not truth and freedom.
Our young soldiers, Marines, airmen and seamen knew exactley what we were fighting for...this nation's security and the freedom of their fellow man...that is why the fought so brilliantly and with such honor...
God bless America and all those that are free, or yearn to be so.

I want to see Saddam set lose in the crowd, like El Duche, to fend for himself while our troops stand with their backs to the attacks that end his miserable life in the most seemly fashion. Justice!

I swear, everytime I think I am finished crying I read something like this and like an old fool I sit alone with my computer and weep tears that don't stop.
God bless this dear brave woman.
God Bless the United States of America.
