Does this ding-a-ling have the slightest idea how much of the budget is already spent on social programs? Sheesh.

COST OF THE WAR? MS PELOSI?relative | 4/12/03 | Uncle Chuck
Posted on 04/13/2003 1:43 PM EDT by woofie
I recieved the following email from a relative ...Since I am not a CPA I cannot vouch for the numbers ...so if they are wrong let me know... but knowing the relative who sent this I would bet they are pretty close:
SATURDAY APRIL 12TH 2003
AS MANY OF THE YOUNGER GENERATION ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT THE COST OF THIS IRAQ WAR I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE OF INTEREST TO MAKE SOME COMPARISONS.
THE FOLLOWING DOLLAR AMOUNTS ARE SHOWING THE TOTAL COSTS AND THE COST PER PERSON !!!
AND WE LIVED THRU IT !!!!!
WORLD WAR 1 191 BILLION $2,489 PER PERSON
WORLD WAR 2 2.9 TRILLION $20,388 PER PERSON
KOREAN WAR 336 BILLION $2,266 PER PERSON
VIETNAM WAR 494 BILLION $2,204 PER PERSON
GULF WAR 1 76 BILLION $306 PER PERSON
IRAQ WAR ESTIMATE 75 BILLION $255 PER PERSON
AND AS A PERCENTAGE OF THE GROSS DOMESTIC PRODUCT SPENT ON DEFENSE:
WORLD WAR 2 --- 38%
KOREA -------------- 14%
VIETNAM ----------- 9%
GULF WAR 1 ----- 5%
IRAQ ------------------- 4%
AS YOU CAN PLAINLY SEE THE HARDSHIPS ENDURED IN WW 2 WERE PLAINLY HIGHER -- BUT WE SURVIVED !!!
AND WE WILL PAY OFF THIS CURRENT DEBT TOO !!
ALSO - A POINT TO REMEMBER THERE WERE 55 MILLION LIVES LOST IN WW 2 !
LETS GIVE BUSH CREDIT FOR WHAT HAS BEEN ACCOMPLISHED THIS TIME. BEFORE WE HAD ANOTHER HITLER. IMAGINE HOW MANY LIVES WOULD HAVE BEEN SAVED IN WW 2 IF WE DID NOT HAVE ALL THESE IDIOTIC WAR PROTESTORS !!!

We already said this is not about going over there to steal their oil. The oil money belongs to the Iraqi people. It will be spent on Iraq. Neither the U.S., nor the Democratic Party, has any right to demand that any of that money be spent on programs in the United States. That is the absolutely worst thing we could do. |

a bill to require the administration to spend as much on building schools and hospitals in the U.S. as it plans to spend on building schools and hospitals in Iraq. They want him to CUT the programs? Fine by me.

require the administration to spend as much on building schools and hospitals in the U.S. as it plans to spend on building schools and hospitals in Iraq. 1... This is, no doubt, in addition to all the billions we already spend on U.S. schools.
2... One might observe that the administration does not control the pursestrings - "requiring" the President to do something is pretty ridiculous coming from a House member.

$726 billion in tax cuts ought to cover it.

These liberals want to cut federal spending to $160 billion ($80 billion times two)? What a turnaround! LOL

Well here is Bush's 2004 Budget proposal: $1,907,000,000, think he'll be happy now?

Hmmm...
Sure, how about we spend the money here at home? Give it to the Border Patrol and INS and tell them to start mass deportations. Grijalva would lose half his constituency.

"You mean because it would be a huge cut in federal spending?" Well, we all know the "motives" for the Dimwits pushing something like this (to cause as much trouble for Bush as humanly possible), and I don't think it is feasible, but I know a lot of schools and roads within twenty miles from where I live in the United States that could sure use some rebuilding.
