Ollie's been listening to some confused folks, too, imho.

FN: Ollie North w/1st Mar. Exp. Force: "Earlier today we got pulled of Tikrit and sent to Samarah...investigating a major pharmaceutical plant to make sure they weren't making anything stronger...didn't find anything...sent to rescue downed pilots of a Cobra helicopt...

found 8 regular aircraft partially assembled....and at that sight where the Cobra gunship was attacking ammo sight...secondary explosion blew the Cobra out of the air...miraculous that the crew survived...one w/ a separated shoulder, one with abrasions....fires off in the distance caused by secondary explosions caused by (getting rid of ammo)...no fighting in 24 hours....

Re. Syria...These are the guys who after we bombed Libya in 1986..it was the Damascus regime, many of whom are still in power....harbor terrorists...Abu Nidal...personally tried to kill (Ollie's family)...nothing happens in (this valley) without the permission of the government....the regime in Baghdad has got to change...it's very likely that if Saddam Hussein (and sons) is still alive..that's where they are....the intel. officers that travel w/ us are pros...we also have what we refer to euphemistically as OGA (other governmental (agencies?).)...these guys are all convinced that Saddam got out to Syria...

Eagleburger is sending a cautionary message to his fellow Conservatives about not expanding the war into Iran, Syria, etc. without first checking with us and with the congress. He said it would be an impeachable action otherwise. His statement gives Conservatives cover.

FoxNews is really starting to piss me off. Ollie North was giving a great live report from Iraq and Colmes said "we are running out of time" and cut him off in mid-sentence. All this so that they could squeeze in a segment on (groan) anti-war protesters in Oakland, who are about as relevant right now as Jimmy Carter. They should have more respect for an embedded reporter who has risked his life in Iraq to bring us firsthand reports. And what Ollie North has to say is far more interesting than those anti-war protesters in Oakland.

As for Eagleburger, he looked like he was munching on a bag of chips.

Quoting Eagleburger: "If George Bush [Jnr] decided he was going to turn the troops loose on Syria and Iran after that he would last in office for about 15 minutes. In fact if President Bush were to try that now even I would think that he ought to be impeached. You can't get away with that sort of thing in this democracy."

He just basically restated what he said. GWB ought to be impeached if he now goes into Syria. I didn't perceive a difference, maybe I'm just dense.

Okay, Eagleburger doesn't mind saber-rattling and muscle flexing but needs to be careful.

Saying that this administration needs to be careful about being cocky and prideful.

OK, I've gone back through some of these theads and found some timelines.

Would you believe it was A WEEK AGO we were talking about Andrea Mitchel's report that a bunker buster had taken out Saddam et al?! It was last Monday night.

And, incredibly, I found what I believe is the last reference to Baghdad Bob's appearances before the camera. It was SUNDAY night, 11:30 pm PST. (That made it 1:30 where I am and I know I stayed up long after his presser). This was the time B-Bob said we weren't in Baghdad, but Greg Kelly was with a colonel across the river who said he would "go over there" and talk to him.

I can't find where he made another appearance. Looks to me like he was prolly in that bunker. He was entertaining for awhile, but I'm glad we got 'im.

Bush's stated objective of a regime change in Iraq and removing weapons of mass destruction in Iraq implies that the conflict is strictly limited to Iraq. Syria and Iran are separate issue sand must be handled as such. That's what Eagleburger is implying, I think.

Eagleburger warned the Bush administration of being cocky. I guess I'd like to know how Larry thinks the Bushies are acting cocky.
