Where and when have they mentioned this? (The Dems and impeachment.) It's certainly news to me. I think if the Dems are talking about it, they'd only do it if they thought Republicans would join them, and they'll only think Republicans will join them if people like Eagleburger continue to talk like this.

I'm pretty shocked. I think he's a loose cannon. There's no grounds for "impeachment." If we go into Syria it will only be in connection with the current Iraq action, and will obviously be justified. It would also be a limited action, to get certain people or things out of that country.

In any case, Syria is already in Israel's cross-hairs, and we have obviously delegated some of this to Israel, since this is the first " warning" Israel has been permitted to give in that area.

I still think it was unwise of Eagleburger to make a statement like that. He was part of the administration that did not go far enough in Gulf War I, and I think he may be trying to justify this, to some extent.

Coming home for a well-earned rest - troops on the USS Constellation, USS Kitty Hawk and F-117A Nighthawk Stealth Fighters (including those responsible for the "targetted opportunity" first strikes on Mar.19th (that some of us think took out Saddam).
