Residents for peace, war take cases to the street. (All 14 of them!)

SIERRA VISTA -- Anti-war and pro-war factions faced off Saturday, disagreeing on almost every facet of the war in Iraq. The one thing the two sides agreed on was that they wanted U.S. troops to come home safely and quickly.

Approximately a dozen anti-war protesters gathered and walked slowly down Fry Boulevard Saturday morning, protesting what many called either an unjust or illegal war.

The demonstration was held on the International Day of Action for Peace.

"This is an unjust war. We've only seen the beginning of the suffering of the people of Iraq," said Mary Jo Cox of Hereford. "Our government leaders have broken every international law trying to get control of oil."

The use of depleted uranium in both bunker buster bombs and tank-fighting missiles was an illegal act that devastated both the Iraqi people and the environment, Cox said. Because of the United States' use of the weapons, the Iraqi people will suffer side effects that will pose a threat for decades, she said.

Sierra Vistan Peter J. Swolak organized the demonstration Saturday. Despite having a son in the military, he said he could not sit by idly as the war he opposed moved on.

"We're just showing our support for the troops and telling everybody that Bush made a mistake going to war," Swolak said. "So far over 100 Americans have died and last we heard, more than 3,000 Iraqis. This could have been resolved peacefully."

The anti-war protesters faced some opposition of their own Saturday as Sierra Vistan Todd Evans came to their starting point and blared patriotic music.

"Approximately a dozen anti-war protesters gathered"

This is news?

A notice that they are as incoherent and as illogical as ever. Somehow 'it could be resolved without war'.

14 to be exact. Two weeks ago the town had a well advertised Support the Troops Rally that drew over 1K according to one of the Tucson TV stations that came down to cover it. We had one lone protester and he didn't stay long when we pointed out to the MPs that he was standing on Post Property (a federal crime taht can get you cuffed-n-stuffed). He noticed what we were doing and left in a hurry. Ha-ha-ha!

"We've only seen the beginning of the suffering of the people of Iraq."

CORRECTION:"We've now seen the beginning of the end of the suffering of the people of Iraq."

What are these nuts smoking?

We've only seen the beginning of the suffering of the people of Iraq," said Mary Jo Cox of Hereford. "

Selective visuals. It's the only explaination! They must have had a "major bowl movement" seeing people of Iraq kissing the American flag and pictures of George Bush after being freed from ~30 years of Saddams oppression.

Cox said.

And because she said it, we're supposed to believe it. Just like that.

Sierra Vistan Peter J. Swolak organized the demonstration Saturday. Despite having a son in the military, he said he could not sit by idly as the war he opposed moved on.

His son must be so embarrassed to have such a father.

Let's hope so and that his tells him so in the most colorful and strident "Serviceman's French."

Across the street from the Yuma Support the Troops Rally Saturday, was an anit-war protest, there were never 10 people there, most of the time six, their predominate sign said "Send the u n." the letters un were small letters, maybe the peace nicks are starting to realise how irrelevant the u n really is.
There were around 100 present at the Support the Troops Rally.
