"Sharpton gave a great answer, denouncing the Secretary of Education as a disgrace for praising Christian schools and ridiculing public schools. Religion is for Sunday, not for legislation"

Big Mouth Al likes to call himself a "Reverand". Yet, he's in politics running for president not in the pulpit.

The great thing about the Dem Primaryis that they split their delegates proportionally. If a candidate gets at least 15% of a state's vote he will get a percentage of the delegates. They need 2100 delegates to win the nomination.

In the states with a large black population, Sharpton has a built in base. For instance, in a state that is 20% black, black voters could account for almost 40% of the dem primary voters. Sharpton can turn them out. 40% could be more than enough to win a primary with 9 candidates. The dems have to play nice with Al if they want to get him to throw his votes to any particular candidate. He will at least have a prime time speaking slot at their convention. I think Sharpton has a chance to win 4 or 5 states outright, plus 15% in some others.

This is going to be fun.

>>>Sharpton might take South Carolina and several other southern primary states using the black bloc<<<

Not neccesarily. Al is too New York in his attitude.

Southern blacks are different from New York blacks, and they may be turned off by Al's in-your-face New York attitude.

The party nominee is likely to be decided by March. After that, people will only be motivated to vote in the primary as a protest vote.

Here's what the (tentative) Dem primary schudule looks like, I recommend we get organizated for massive crossover voting in the states I bolded. I think Sharpton has the potential to get some major voters there.

Even if they don't have an open primary, does it really matter if there's no competition on the GOP side? My state has an semi-open primary (declare party when you show up to vote), but I'm not missing out on anything since Bush and Fitzgerald will likely face only token "opposition" in the GOP primary. I'll just switch back as soon as the next election roles around. heh heh.
