United States Marines have uncovered an underground vault containing the detailed files of Saddam Hussein's secret police.

Under the Headquarters of the Special Security Organization, run by Saddams most rusted son Qusay, the Marines found a massive complex of offices over an area the size of two football fields, littered with millions of documents-detailed records that stretch back more than three decades.

In just one room were files for a million souls-their pictures, personal details, and entire history recorded in minute chilling detail, reports CBS News correspondant Lars Logan.

The complex was targeted for coalition planes on the first night of bombing.

There may well be information in these records that will be highly embarrassing to CNN. Indeed, it's possible it was the likelihood of these records turning up that led to Eason Jordan's revelation a couple of days ago.

I hope this is confirmed.

Anyone know what became of the previously unknown underground atomic facility discovery by the Marines? Last I heard, it sounded like it was being discounted. I presume the UN had examined it.

Horrendous. Those poor families hoping we'll find a hidden floor in a prison where they are sure we'll find their loved ones.

I presume the UN had examined it.

As Americans, we committed a huge blunder in not insisting also on having imbedded UN Inspectors...
Gagged, of course.

Bureaucrats always keep records. We will find more than we can examine.

Brutality so proud it keeps records. Brutality so widespread an Iraqi had to become proficient in order to advance politically. Their mindset is a kind of WMD from which all others spring.

Is anyone on FR compiling a list of all of the articles containing details of the atrocites of this regime? I have a few liberal friends who are convinced that a) oil is the reason for this war b) George Bush had the planes fly into the WTC (I am not joking) in order to advance his power. I'd like to send along a little package to them.
