You have to see it to believe it - Democrats 2000 platform

It really is staggering. You have to see it to believe it. When was the last time you took a foray into enemy territory? When was the last time you looked at the Democrats 2000 platform? Click here for the real thing: http://www.democrats.org/about/2000platform.html. Go there, look around. Have some fun like I did. Oh- by the way, the Demoncrats platform is quoted in red, which seems appropriate.

Israel, the Middle East and the Demoncrats

Have you ever wondered where the Demoncrats stood on Israel? Read the next paragraph. "Jerusalem is the capitol of Israel and should remain undivided…responsibility now resides with Syria to make a contribution toward peace." Don't the Demoncrats want to give partial control of Jerusalem to the Palestinians? Isn't Syria aiding Iraq in the current war? What exactly do the Demoncrats say about this war? Why are they now backing Palestine and Arafat?

CLOSING THE GATES OF WAR

Our special relationship with Israel is based on the unshakable foundation of shared values and a mutual commitment to democracy, and we will ensure that under all circumstances, Israel retains the qualitative military edge for its national security. Jerusalem is the capital of Israel and should remain an undivided city accessible to people of all faiths. In view of the government of Israel's courageous decision to withdraw from Lebanon, we believe special responsibility now resides with Syria to make a contribution toward peace.

Where does Syria stand now?

The Syrian News Agency

The Syrian government, under pressure from U.S. officials to chose sides in the Iraq war, issued a response Monday. "Syria has chosen to align itself with the brotherly Iraqi people who are facing an illegal and unjustified invasion and against whom are being committed all sorts of crimes against humanity," a foreign ministry spokesman said in a statement. http://www.cnn.com/2003/WORLD/meast/03/31/sprj.irq.arab.voices/index.html

Preventing Proliferation and Containing Hussein

In 2000, Al Gore ran on a platform of "Preventing Proliferation…of conventional and unconvential weapons that threaten America." Um, OK - so this means that the Demoncrats want to prevent Saddam Hussein from using chemical and biological weapons of mass destruction? They are really for the war? I am happy to see that they want to ensure "… that weapons and weapons-grade material do not fall into the wrong hands…" like Iraq, Syria, North Korea and China - right? >>>continued<<<

(Quoted in red, presumably from the 2000 Demonrat platform:)
"Bill Clinton and Al Gore have stood up to Saddam Hussein time and time again. As President, Al Gore will not hesitate to use America's military might against Iraq when and where it is necessary."

To which (in part) the article's author comments: "OSAMA MADE IT TO THEIR PLATFORM! WHY DIDN'T CLINTON DO SOMETHING?"

Note the weasle words at the end of the first quote: "...when and where and it is necessary." Using such weasle words allows them to wriggle out of the premise for any time and any place that might come up. Hence, that quote is nothing more than blather and we should not bother trying to hold them accountable as if there were some "there there" onto which one could hang one's hat.

When confronted this way, they'll simply commandeer the podium to spend time preaching to the masses about their intelligent, senstive (read: non-Republican/"ham-fisted") approach to international relations or other such nonsense.

I know that party platforms ae tailored for each election but do any of our political parties have core documents such as our nations Constitution that does not change? And if they do where can they be found?

"Democratic leadership has brought peace and security to Americans and to millions of freedom-loving people around the globe. We achieved victory and ended ethnic cleansing in Kosovo - allowing hundreds of thousands of refugees to return to their homes in safety."

Peace and security? Why did we have 911 a bare 9 months into the new administration. What a joke!

Ended ethnic cleansing? According to a Wall Street Journal article afterwards, investigators found NO real hard evidence of ethnic cleansing, just rumors and innuendos. It was a nasty civil war like all wars are nasty. However, NATO violated its own charter by interfering into a European country's civil war, and literally formed new countries from Yugoslavia's PROVINCES.

That RAT website is nothing but a bunch of lies and half-truths. I couldn't bring myself to signup to be given the opportunity to browse.
