Actually, the biology was already there (be fruitful and multiply). The punishment for sin was not singling out the woman FOR childbirth, it was the increase of pain during it.

I didn't have any sorry when I had my kids. Had firt son in normal fairly easy labor. Then second child, the daughter, I had in 49 minutes from first contraction till she was out. Last child, a son, I had in two hours. Can't say that I had any multiplied sorrow bringing forth my children. Now when they were about age 2 and again when they were about age 14 they gave their father and me lots of trouble!!!!!
