You Would Have Liked Dennis Miller Tonight
HBO ala PackerBoy | 4/12/03 | PackerBoy

Posted on 04/12/2003 7:59:09 PM PDT by PackerBoy

For those of you who are HBO deprived, I have to say that Dennis Miller was entertaining and refreshingly conservative (for the most part) in his one-hour special tonight. The special will be re-aired a number of times on HBO and its sister cable channels (HBO2, etc.). Do yourself a favor and watch, or get a friend to tape it for you.

Either of these two pairs could come out and make exactly the same point. But Rumsfeld & Cheney would come across as mature and thoughtful, while James and Mike would just sound shrill and arrogant

Yeah but, Miller was doing more of an Ann Coulter type thing. I love that in-you-face appoach to liberals every now and then.

Hey, don't call Fredo dumb. Just kidding, he was a great actor and I loved his part in one of the greatest movies of all time. Michaels bodyguard did the hit BTW.

If anyone has a recollection of where my memory comes from or if you can remember a specific example of when he said something liberal, please refresh me.

I think most here feel the same way. As far I know he has not always been on the conservative side, except lately for whatever reason, and he is still pro-choice so what does that tell you. However tonight he was entertaining, at least in the latter part of the show, and he was kicking some Lib a$$ and I for one enjoyed it.

Fredo was the dumb brother-in-law in the Godfather. He used to fish in a boat on the pond with Sonny's kid. That's where he met his maker one day when Sonny was tired of him.

Some pond! It was Lake Tahoe. And it was Michael's kid who didn't take the boat ride with Fredo the morning Michael had him whacked.

Sheesh!!! Has no one watched his show on HBO for the past 8 or 9 years?!? Back in '95 he started to sound a bit conservative and by the time the Clinton scandals were in full swing if he had a liberal on his show he cracked on them throughout the interview

Miller has been conservative leaning for quite some time. Could be why HBO finally canned him to bring in that idiot Maher

My wife and I enjoyed the show so much that I just bought a couple of front row tickets (Ebay) for his upcoming show in the Bay Area (6/14). Let's see if he has enough guts to rip up the libs when he's in their home territory!

Did I miss the part in the Bible that says to question what body parts people put in their mouths if they don't like you?

Call me a hypocrite too as well then. I voted for X42 twice and Dukakis before that.

How Christ-like.

I was going to write the same thing. How in the world can someone put the two words "anti-Christian c&^ksucker" together? Must be an "eye for eye, tooth for tooth" Christian. Looks like they never finished reading the last few dozen chapters of the book.

Then when you point it out they say "whatever?" Wow. It makes one wonder why some people bother to post when they will not defend their own words.

Fredo was the brother of Michael Corleone, who was the main character in the film. Fredo betrays Mikey. Mikey gives Fredo a literal kiss-off.

Later on, one of Mikey's goons takes Fredo out on the lake in the rowboat to fish. As Fredo chit-chats amiably and hooks a worm, the goon puts a gun to the back of his head and kills him.

The entire scene was just parodied on South Park too, where Cartman takes out Kyle -- and later, all the kids, Stan, Kyle, and Kenny -- out on the lake and tries to kill them with a wiffle ball bat. They played the Godfather music in background there too.

Wow! Thanks! That enriches the "fishing with Fredo" remark to France for me. There are a lot of Godfather references in our culture. I need to see those movies.

"Whatever" is a substitution for "You are right and I have no answer for you, but I'm not man enough to admit that I was wrong."

It was pretty funny, all in all, but I wouldn't vote for him. :)

He's leaning more conservative these days. But he's still a comedian ;o)

Hah hah. Actually I moved from Texas to where real liberals lived and were in charge...northern New Mexico. It was very scary. People that coudn't build on their own land because it would destroy someone else's view....17-year old killers of babies who got probation....people protesting stuff that happened 500 years ago...a bridge that took over thirty years to be built...and the widespread voter fraud (I didn't even think that existed anymore in the US). I lasted not quite a year and came back to Texas a full-fledged conservative.
