That's why I told left-of-center coworkers that Saddam was a complete idiot after 9-11.
If Saddam had picked up the phone, told Dubya "I had nothing to do with this thing
in NYC, you can send as many inspectors as you want, and we are now open for
the arrival of many Gulf War I vets who want to vacation here with their families..."

Saddam would have had a problem...counting all the excess revenues.
And if he'd started to share them with the Iraqi citizens, they'd be so freaked
out over the money and reduced repression and Saddam's new kindness...Saddam probably
would be picking up a Nobel Peace Prize...
