Journalist Michael Kelly died in a humvee accident while embedded with the 3rd Infantry Division in Iraq. Most of North America mourned his loss, but a disturbing few people didnt. Instead, they were positively joyous about the Washington Post columnists death....

One thing the article points out is that we as well should be careful what appears in FR. Especially since we have a number of ringers here who specialize in trying to sneak in unusual comments into the threads.

Thomas Sowell was right, the left despises people who disagree with them while the right thinks that people who disagree with them are misguided.

Not to be morbid ... but does anyone have details of how he died?
He was a favourite columnist of mine, so I'm curious.

PS I agree, the Democratic Underground columns are absolutely appalling. I've found almost similar comments here about Robert Fisk, but think they were meant humourously. The DUers were, well, dead serious about it.

I do so agree with you.
Let me refer to the thread when Nell Carter died.
A nice conservative, talented Lady.
Half of the thread made fun of her weight.
I finally asked that they lay off. Geez, she had died.
We need to watch what we say.
Trolls are the exception!

He drowned. The humvee he was in swerved to avoid a mortar, flipped, and went into a canal.

Freepers need to remember how this looks when they have the urge to dance of the graves of a Leftist. Murderous dictators like Saddam are excempt, however. Everyone should be dancing on their graves.
To: netmilsmom
We need to watch what we say. When some flaming liberal dies, 95% of the sentiments on FR are sympathetic. Many say they pray for the family, etc. Almost no one in this forum would ever celebrate the death of anyone, not even a miserable, low-down liberal scumbag. Of course while that scumbag is alive, all bets are off.

Exactly.
I will only dance on the graves of those guilty of death penalty offenses. As soon as it is confirmed that Saddam Hussein is worm food, I will be jubilant.

Some remarks about the war in Iraq from
The Rat's Nest© (please do not feed the inmates):
"The End Justifies the Means [...] This is the argument that many of the people who favor the invasion are making. The Iraqi people are free now, so the real reason and motives for the invasion don't matter. The innocent lives lost are irrelevant in the scheme of things because the Iraqi's are better off now that they are free of SH's tyranny. This is the "silver lining" to this immoral and illegal invasion, the goal of which most definitely was not the liberation of the Iraqi people. [...] Are the Iraqi's better off? [...] Well, it doesnn't seem to me they are quite better off, not yet anyway. Will they be? Who knows? That's where the TRUE motives of the reason for the invasion come into play. These criminals who invaded already have a track record, and it ain't pretty."
"Exactly [...]while our position is that the ends do not justify the means."
"What it comes down to is USA DOES NOT HAVE THE RIGHT TO decide what governments are valid and what ones are not...IT'S THAT SIMPLE!!!"
"No person or group of persons has a moral 'right' to impose their will upon another."
"An excuse used by tyrants the world over Sorry. I don't buy it. Refer those who do to Genesis 18:16."
"And What Jesus Said at the Last Supper: 'These things must come to pass, but woe be him by whom they come to pass.' "
"If the ends justify the means then bring back Joe Stalin! He will create an egalitarian utopia, paradise on earth! It is becoming more and more clear why some of the bushies' most fervorous supporters are extreme-leftist converts..."
"I am sure all the dead innocent tenants are real happy with their new digs. I am sure all the dead innocent Iraqis are real happy about being free."
"It's quite common for these folk to act and then look for justification later..."
"I would bet that very few rich Iraqis...
...we're killed by Bush* bombs. It was the poor of Iraq who were slaughtered because they couldn't afford to escape. - If lies about the need to invade Iraq is the poisoned well...then everything that flows from it is tainted."

The David Bloom thread - Nearly all the remarks expressed sympathy and kindness for him, even though he was one of the most smarmiest, pro-Gore journalists during the 2000 election aftermath.
To: clintonbaiter
I truly think that the anti-war crowd is disappointed that there wasn't more bloodshed and the pro-war crowd will be happy to see the war end.
Strange,isn't it?

"Exteme boorishness from the extremist, uncaring Caring Left." What's more, Kelly was himself a liberal. He wrote for the Washington Post and edited New Republic..
But he was what we at Free Republic have come to call an "honest liberal". A Democrat who was a patriot and knew the difference between right and wrong.
In the left's mind, however, he committed heresy when he supported the impeachment of their hero -- Bill Clinton, the First Felon. And on national security matters, such as Iraq and the War on Terror, he was absolutely apostate -- expressing pleasure that, even though he had voted for Algore, George W. Bush was the President of the United States.
The left reserves their most acid bile for those who leave the hive.

Yes, they certainly do..
From what I have seen, some "Conservatives" are no better about this sort of the thing than the left is.
