I WAS WRONG
Paul Wolfowitz thought U.S. forces would be greeted as liberators in Iraq. I did not. His prediction in this case, was correct. I was wrong. (And not for the last time, Im guessing.)
I hope Mr. Wolfowitz has equally good luck in the rest of his predictions since they seem to be driving U.S. foreign policy right now. Id be amazed, and the consequences of his being wrong will likely be catastrophic for this country, but as I said, Ive been wrong before. And as far as the Iraqi liberation goes, Im extremely pleased to be wrong this time, at least in the short run. And if the Bush Administrations past history is any guide, the short run is just about all the Iraqis can expect to enjoy.
For the record, being sucked into the maelstrom of the right-wing slime machine is a pretty interesting. So far, it seems to work thusly: Andrew Sullivan writes something scurrilous on his blog. Its picked up by the likes of Rush Limbaugh and David Horowitz, and Richard Mellon Scaifes Worldnet Daily, reprinted in the Moonie Times, and then broadcast on MSNBC cable. Im sure therell be more. (I wonder whats taking Fox so long.) Anyway, I must say, its a pleasure to see ones arguments vindicated in real time
.
Some of those who are doing the crowing at least those few to whom evidence has any intrinsic value might wish to read Mike Kinsleys piece, in which he demonstrates that being right about the course of the war has zero implications for being right about its wisdom. And by the way, compare the headlines on the Kinsley column employed by the Washington Post and Slate and tell me Post editors were not covering their own posteriors. No Quagmire, but Still Some Questions vs. this.
And focusing on the more ambitious and difficult aspects of Wolfowitz and Companys great adventure, William Pfaff writes in the International Herald Tribune, The neoconservatives are fanatics. They believe it is worth killing people for unproved ideas.
Meanwhile, says Molly Ivins, Bring on the crooks and warmongers
Finally, heres Jeffrey Sachs tough-minded piece from the Communist Financial Times. He writes: President George W. Bush is presiding over the ruin of US foreign policy. A world united against the war in Iraq is only the start, since US diplomatic failure and neglect extend to virtually every area of foreign policy.

I love how they switch from one point to another without being called on for their utter stupidity.

"...I've been wrong before." The understatement of the year from this guy. If he's ever right, Ripley's Believe it Or Not will do a show on him.

The neoconservatives are fanatics. They believe it is worth killing people for unproved ideas. The Declaration of Independence was once an unproven idea. Had to kill many, many people to bring it to fruition. Now, we have toppled the worst tyrant of our times with remarkably few casualties on all sides, and all the lib pundits can do is move the goal post.

Well he got one thing right, the rest is just his liberal blather. After all isn't this the guy with the book out claiming that there is no LIBERAL press, it's all a myth, the press is really CONSERVATIVE. What planet are these MORONS from?

"but as I said, Ive been wrong before."
Actually, you didn't say that. You only said "I was wrong" (meaning in this case) and would likely be wrong again...
If you can't keep your own thoughts straight, don't expect me to do it for you.

In today's news on Yahoo, Paul Wolfowitz has an wonderful suggestion as to how Russia, Germany and France could contribute to the postwar reconstruction since he considers the UN "can't be in charge"--the 3 whining babies (my description) can write off Iraq's debts to them.

They believe it is worth killing people for unproved ideas. What he has described here are Marxists.

Has he ever been wrong? Maybe we could say that he has been wrong all along. He certainly had it wrong throughout the Clinton years where no matter what transgression the Bonnie and Clyde of modern politics wrought from their protected perch in the White House, he bought into it fully.

"since US diplomatic failure and neglect extend to virtually every area of foreign policy"
I have a question ...??
If the left is saying the President has failed at foreign policy - how are they now going to say it was his only focus, to the detrement of the economy ...??
They cannot have it both ways ... can they ??

For the record, being sucked into the maelstrom of the right-wing slime machine is a pretty interesting. Why should anyone take Alterman seriously? Does this sentence make sense? This is the first sentence from the third paragraph.
Alterman and his editors at MSNBC are either so inept or so crazed with rage that they take no care in their proofreading. Amazing.
To: dirtboy
The Left, of course, is better. The believe in killing people for ideas which have ben proven wrong.

"I was wrong."Don't ask me why, but the one thing I was absolutely, 100% sure about this article when I saw it, was that I would not find my wife's name in the byline.

Why does everyone think that Paul Wolfowitz is running the US foreign policy? Have people ever heard of George Bush (Saddam tried to kill his father), Dick Cheney (long-time hawk who regretted leaving Saddam in power in GWI), Donald Rumsfeld or John Bolton?
