LITTLE ROCK (Reuters) - Would-be bank robber Julius Kearney just couldn't get any respect, police said on Wednesday.
They said that when he tried to rob a bank in the central Arkansas town of Pine Bluff on Monday, one teller started laughing and told him the bank was fresh out of cash, and another teller made fun of him.
Both tellers also doubted that he had a gun in his pocket as he claimed.
Police were told that Kearney, 23, entered a bank and told a teller to stuff a bag full of money. His other hand was thrust in his pocket to make it seem like he was carrying a gun.
Police said one teller handed him some deposit slips and told him that if he wanted to steal money, he had better first put some money in the bank.
The tellers told police that Kearney then threw down his plastic bag in disgust and walked out of the bank. He was arrested a few minutes later about four blocks away after bank employees called police for help.
"Most everybody was happy. He wasn't," said Sgt. Bob Rawlinson of the Pine Bluff, Arkansas police.
Kearney was arrested on suspicion of attempted bank robbery and could face up to 10 years in jail if convicted.

I try to tell family members and friends from all over the country that things that occur in their states simply won't work in Arkansas. This is just another fine example of what makes my home state great.
I can only imagine what would happen if some idiot protesters tried to block the I-30 bridge from North Little Rock into Little Rock.

Just reading this story makes it sound like this guy was a total fake. As in drunk, out of it, or otherwise incompetent. Otherwise, tellers are supposed to follow certain rules when they suspect a bank robber. Last I heard, making fun of the guy isn't on the list. So, I take it this guy was a total fake.

I believe so. His uncle is a Pine Bluff attorney, in fact that is where he was apprehended, at his uncle's law firm.

Years ago when I was a bank teller, I had a guy fake that he was robbing me. He was joking around with me (more like flirting, now that I think about it) and I didn't "get it." When he saw the shock in my eyes, he said, "Candi! You know me! I'm just joking!" Well, sure I "knew" him. He was one of a bazillion customers who came by my window all the time. I didn't know he wasn't a BANK ROBBER! I never said a word to anyone, but I'm wondering now what would have happened to him if I had....kind of like the person who walks onto a plane joking about bombs.

You're so right, only Arkansas could produce Bill and Hillary Clinton. Talk about a whole state being duped. Thanks a lot.;-)

Otherwise, tellers are supposed to follow certain rules when they suspect a bank robber. Last I heard, making fun of the guy isn't on the list. It's not a good idea. I know of one incident in which a robber wearing a halloween mask stuck up a hamburger joint. The cashiers were starting to comply with his demands, but a cook in the back saw the mask and thought it was a joke and started laughing. The nervous robber shot the cook, who later died from his wound.

And what fine state are you from Labyrinthos? If you don't have Democrats that display wierd and abberant behavior on a nearly daily basis, I might want to move there!
Please remember, we needed to get rid of our former Governor. We did that, but our method left alot to be desired. And what fine state are you from Labyrinthos? If you don't have Democrats that display weird and aberrant behavior on a nearly daily basis, I might want to move there!

Okay then, just to make everybody here happy, I knew his aunt, Janice, who was on Clinton's WH staff. There -- a Clinton connection. Whew!
