All opinions, no matter how poorly thought out, are allowed on this site. While I agree with the posters on this thread in regards to Peterosky having the right to do anything he wants (and I have written a letter to Mr. Kelly stating such.) I must disagree that all opinions are allowed on this site.
They are not.

And it did wonders for Toby Keith. He's on top now . . . Hey, Peter Jennings, "How d'ya like him now?"

What's wrong with division? Why is that such a problem? We want to be divided from some people. We do not share their morals (lack of, and they do not share our dreams and goals.
And Mr. Petrosky has every right to do what ever is best for his business.
If it did divide anything, it left the scant percent of wankers on the side.
Wankers don't deserve free forums to express their views.
Let them buy their own.

"And what happened to John Rocker when he exercised his free speech rights?"
John Rocker was just an idiot.

Reality check for you dude.
Peter Jennings lied about Toby Keith when he booted him.
Petrosky hasn't lied about anyone. Statements like Sarandon's and Robbin's are bad for moral for our troops and are great for bucking up the enemy.
That isn't rocket science.
He didn't lie.
Also, you might not agree with his opinion, but that doesn't make his opinion wrong.

No one was not going to go the HOF weekend just because Robbins and Sarandon were there. That wasn't their concern. The bigger issue is how many people won't show up at the Hall of Fame next weekend, the following weekend, the one after that, etc.
I can't think of anyone whose public anti-war statements have been a good career move. You can be sure that Lipton is wishing they had never heard of the Dixie Chicks right now.

It is a business decision. Look at all the great free publicity he is getting from this. And all the controversy he is avoiding.

"We believe your very public criticism of President Bush at this important -- and sensitive -- time in our nation's history helps undermine the U.S. position, which ultimately could put our troops in even more danger."Joe Whitey wrote: Absurd, insane or a lie? You be the judge.
I judge it to be accurate.
- Did the position of France, Germany and Russia help or undermine the U.S. position?
- Did the Hussein regime reference the position taken by the protestors?
- Did the protestors and the axis of weasel countries help or undermine the inspectors (UN inspectors: German & French peace tactics were 'crazy')?
You be the judge ...

Left-ward Spin Warning!!!! Petroskey said he didn't want Robbins politicizing the event, then he politicized it.
How can one politicize an event that did not take place?

If anyone did make such a connection, then they are a moron. And if anyone assumes that a capricious consumer base will act in a rational, intelligent manner, then he is a moron, too.
Sheryl Crow's career isn't hurting too bad for one.
Her career has been in decline for a while. If she never took a public anti-war position, you never would have heard her name mentioned more than once in any given month.
I doubt it. They made millions and will continue to. No one will remember in a year.
When was the last time Alec Baldwin got a leading role in a movie?

Here's what I wrote:
Mr. Kelly,
Regarding your column discussing the right to free speech of Hollywood actors Sarandon and Robbins, kindly get a clue.
The right of free speech is a protection guarenteed from GOVERNMENT retribution. There is nothing in the Constitution or the Bill of Rights protecting people from the consequences of their spoken opinions with PRIVATE CITIZENS and their organizations.
People pay those kind of consequences every day. I'm sure that you would agree that certain sports figures who have expressed hate speech against African-Americans deserved such consequences. What is the difference here?
A private organization disagreed with Sarandon and Robbins and decided not to reward them with a celebration. End of story.
IF the government punishes Ms. Sarandon and Mr. Robbins for what they said, which of course won't happen, then you would have cause to scream from the rooftops. Until then, too bad, so sad.
Think it will change his mind? Yeah, me neither.
