Tony Snow is reporting that the French press is turning on Chirac---that he bet on the wrong team, and lost.

There are two other choices you know. They knew damn good and well and said nothing. Or they didn't want to know. My money's on either or both of those two choices.
It seems to me that France and Russia are looking more and more like that cheating French Olympic ice-skating judge. Why Canada isn't realizing that I don't know!

Fox News reports 11 shipping containers of posible chemical weapons unearthed near Karbala by US forces. UN inspectors looked at the site on Feb 23 but didn't find anything. Go figure."Sources" have been saying all along that Saddam loves to bury things. I want to go over the entire country with GPR and see what we find.
Nice smoke plume drifting over the traffic circle right now.

Three guesses why the Russians are trying so hard to get certain people out of Iraq...Hint to the would-be escapees: You're safer with us. I'm not kidding. Better a firing squad or some prison time rather that what your rescuers would have in mind for you...

Where will we stand on this? I get the feeling that we are leaning toward keeping the Iraqi borders intact. I'm hoping for an for an independent Kurdistan state.
But then I'm not completely familiar with all the ramifications...the Iranians also have a great deal of anxiety about an independent Kurdistan...and Turkey certainly won't cede territory to the Kurds.
(The Turks haven't exactly been respectful of borders, i.e., Cyprus--heh, now talk about a UN quagmire).

If we set Iraq up as a federal Republic, we could let the Kurd area be like Texas. Give them some pride, identity, and self-government over all things except national defense and such.

There's a third choice. Manufacture your own labels.
"Inspected by Hans Blix"
"Pesticides"
"NOT WMD"
"No Smoking Guns Here"

I like #1!

As long as the Kurd area is like Texas, not California.

Oh yeah, that is bound to get Syria's attention. Not.
To: Lauratealeaf
Whaht? You think a Texan president would set up a California? I think this could be the way to sell a federal state, because I bet you cash money that the Kurds have heard of Texas!!
To: Miss Marple
I love that cartoon!

The Kurds are already ahead of the curve with respect to self-governing, so why not let them have their Texas-style state. They could be named the Lone Sun State (reference to their flag).

BBC complaining now about anarchy and why aren't Bush and Blair helping. Beeb Dweeb in Baghdad saying our troops aren't THAT busy, so they really ought to stop the looting
I think we have heard quite enough of what BBC thinks of the coalition war plan.
If they want to send out their reporters to fight it out with the pockets of resistance in Baghdad, the remaining Iraqi forces in Tikrit, the terrorist stronghold on the Syria-Iraqi border, and the suicide bombers looking for their next target they should feel free to do so.
Otherwise they should shut the f&*^ up!
