Have been subbing at school the last couple of week for the choir teacher. She had chosen several patiotic songs. It's been a great opportunity to share joy and pride of our soldiers and our country.
I shared several of your pictures, RIn, with students who were contructing a display honoring local heroes. It sort of reminded me of Norman Rockwells' series, the Four Freedoms.
K have more of my kids who are serving: Callie, in Iraq. Dawn's brother ???and George in a tank somewhere. ALso one of our teacher's Dan has been called up and is working stateside to help "process" military and supplies. Would appreciate their names added to our list.

Many boys in Kuwait were named George after the GUlf war. The other night Grandpa Dave and I made a list. Aba Dubya, Ura Dubya, Hoosa dubya....It got very silly....heaven knows we needed a laugh to break the tension.

You know what book I
highly recommend?? .......
The Leadership Genius of George W. Bush, by Carolyn Thompson and James Ware
It's a book about business leadership, but it is really good (even for those of us who know nothing about business)!
And, as his leadership genius becomes more and more obvious with the passage of time, it should become more and more popular.

It's good that he has a reason to smile and allow his natural good humor to shine through. He's seemed so tense and serious (and with good reason!) but that doesn't seem to be his nature.

The Leadership Genius of George W. Bush.Hmmmm...I've never heard of that one. I'll have to check it out.
W looks very happy today and justifiably so. It's so cool that he and Blair broadcast on Iraqi TV. Still many dangers ahead for our troops but we have crossed a major hurdle! I'm so proud of W I could burst!

Sheesh...I've been in and out all day and not really paying too much attention to the news. So, I go to browse on FR and the first thread listed is "ANNAN seeks return of inspectors to Iraq." Aaaarrrrghhhh! I can't stand it. I hope it's a joke. Annan, Chirac, Putin, and Schroeder...all totally irrelevant in my opinion.

Well, thank you, az! On Wednesday nights for the next 5 weeks, I'm teaching a class from 6 to 10 at a satellite location more than an
hour away!
I got home last night at 11:30 only to find my SIL and BIL sitting in our family room, so I missed the BIG day!! Wow! I'm still excited about seeing those Iraqi people dancing and yelling "Bush! Bush! Bush!" and hearing that guy in Michigan who said he was changing his name to Bush, because he loved him! (Well....of course! How can you not love this man?? :o)
We're doing fine.....especially since the war seems to be winding down. We finally got a letter from Eric (!), which was a thrill, even though it only gave us info that we already knew. He loved the flight, and was really excited to be there (even though they had had 4 Scud alerts since he had gotten there!) He didn't seem worried at all.
We don't know where he is, except that we know he is in GOD's protective and loving hands! .....and are still experiencing PEACE (though not without tears).
We sent him a box filled with Easter candy that I HOPE gets to him before Easter!

Remeber the picture of him coming off of Marine One when he got back from Ireland? That was a great picture. He just seemed so alive and happy. I hope there are many happy days ahead for him and the Iraqis.

Here's a little something from AndrewSullivan.com. The last comment really got me misty. Then again, a lot I'm seeing in the media is getting me misty these days...
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: "We will confront weapons of mass
destruction, so that a new century is spared new
horrors... The enemies of liberty and our country
should make no mistake: America remains engaged in the
world by history and by choice, shaping a balance of
power that favors freedom. We will defend our allies
and our interests. We will show purpose without
arrogance. We will meet aggression and bad faith with
resolve and strength. And to all nations, we will speak
for the values that gave our nation birth... And an angel
still rides in the whirlwind and directs this storm." - the inaugural
address of president George W. Bush, to whom above
everyone else, the Iraqi people owe their new freedom.
To: reDublican
I am so happy Andrew Sullivan remmebered that section from the Inaugural Address...and rightfully credits President Bush with a free Iraq. Thank you for posting that!
