Posted on 04/10/2003 1:52:36 PM PDT by Spiff

ANNOUNCING Sierra Vista Support the Troops Rally - April 12th, 12:00-4:00pm.

Like the last rally, we're going to line Fry Boulevard from Veteran's Memorial Park all the way to the Main Gate of Fort Huachuca.

Bring signs, flags, and wear red, white & blue to show your support for our troops.

There will be a Donate to the Troops box in front of PoFolks Restaurant at 622 E. Fry Blvd. Donations of toiletries (baby wipes, etc) can be made there to be sent to the troops.

The goal is to make this one even bigger than the one before. See http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/880284/posts for pics and a report of the first rally in Sierra Vista held last month.

Don't miss this. Tell all your friends and neighbors. Support the Troops!!!

Bump-Ping!!!

to the Sierra Vista FReepers that I know of...plus a few from Tucson and points north.

Spiff, where should we plan to meet? Main gate, Veteran's Park, or somewhere in the middle?

I'm going to hang out by my club's sign near the main gate. I have collected a bunch of patriotic tunes and cut a CD of them and I want to play them at the rally. Problem is, I don't have any sort of amplification to do it properly. Any suggestions?

1) Find a teenager with a boom box...

2) Contact any of the local DJs (think MWR) to see if they want to help. Or even better, see if K101 or KTAN want to bring in a truck.

I talked to the organizer of the rally today. She said the SV Police Department told her that the anti-war freaks are going to hold their own protest on Fry Blvd between 7th and Buffalo Soldier Trail. This may get interesting.

Does anyone have access to a bullhorn?

Sorry we can't make it this time. In-Laws are coming from Pennsylvania, California, and Wyoming and want to to go to the Grand Canyon this weekend. I kinda wish I could stay here. I have lots of homework...

Here's the anti-war/anti-American protest info from AZUP:

April 12, 11AM: Sierra Vista March for Peace: on the southeast corner of Fry Blvd and 7th St. We will be marching west along Fry toward Buffalo Solder and the Fort Huachuca main gate. Anyone who can't or doesn't want to march can go directly to the destination intersection (Fry and Buffalo Soldier).

Contacts

Bisbee: Will Shetterly
Sierra Vista: Joanne

I say we FReep them before our rally.

Radio Shack has a nice PowerHorn for only $39.99. I think I'm going to pick one up.

Now I need some counter-chants to be ready to drown out their mindless chants.

Want to join me? Could be a lot of fun.

Saturday really is iffy...if I get the pavers down, and if I get the rock moved, and if I get the pool taken care of...I'm going to try real hard to get there with an American flag to wave in their faces.

I'd love to get the U.S. Wankers sign made into a poster...

I really don't want to do this alone. Just one person there with me would do wonders. Anyone?

I just bought a bullhorn at Radio Shack. Who wants to have some fun with the anti-Bush whackjobs driving up from Bisbee to pollute our good town?

Anyone?

Sierra Vista rally turnout was disappointing. Blame it on the organizer who did not get the word out very well. Also blame it on the other things going on today such as the Rose Parade in Tombstone.

The highlight for me was showing up an hour early to FReep the antiwar whackos. A dozen showed up with their stupid signs. When they started their march I didn't hear any chants so I pulled out my bullhorn and said, "I don't hear any chants. Let me help you get started."

I kept it up as the marched up Fry to Buffalo Soldier Trail and back. Man, that bullhorn made all the difference.

1..2..3..4..Peace can only come through war!
5..6..7..8..The U.S. fights to LIBERATE!

Liars! Losers! Traitors! Fools!
You are all just Saddam's Tools!

If you hate the USA
Why don't you just go away?

Go home Bisbee Fedayeen!

Etc.

Needless to say, it severely dampened their enthusiasm. Add that to the demoralization they've experience since seeing Saddam fall and the Iraqis rejoice and welcome our troops and liberators and all the whackos should be put on suicide watch. They did try to argue with me a few times, I gave excellent counter arguments, but they're too dense to comprehend logic and reality. Besides, their arguments were so idiotic I won't even post them here - they're not worth the bandwidth.

FReeper SandRat showed up late in the game and took some pictures. We quickly moved to meet the idiots as their march finished and they went to their cars. The bullhorn was working fine and I blasted them. When the passed SandRat he tossed some lollipops their way and said "Suckers for the Suckers!"

One loser decided to bring a picture of a bloody, injured child, which was allegedly an Iraqi child injured by coalition bombing, and put it directly in my 9-year-old son's face. My son just silently videotaped the jerk as he'd videotaped everything else. He later said he thought the guy was a real "butthead". I agreed.

I can say that I haven't had that much fun in a long time. People were pulling over to shake my hand and thank me for standing up to the idiots. Store owners would come out of their stores to see what all the noise was and then give me a thumbs up and words of encouragement as I hounded the anti-American, seditious nuts. I had an Army Lieutenant pull into a parking lot and jump out of his car and run over to me to shake my hand and thank me. I had a couple of people join me along the way to add some choice words of their own.

The toxic waste from Bisbee never did get those chants started. All I can say is that I tried to help...

Pics:

She's pointing across the street at me.

The peacechick in the yellow dress was especially annoying. She was all peace and love until she got into our face after her march. She went away ANGRY.

Our numbers were Sparse for the rally supporting the troops, only about two-dozen at two different locations. The Peaceniks had 14 total. Shopping was just to good at the Earth Day vendors’ tents in the park I guess.

While we were in front of Po-Folks, GIs came by and shook our hands; one came by and left a liter of Cold Coke A Cola for us.

Spiff and I Freeped them as they walked along Fry. Then a group of about 6 more pro troops joined in near 7th street. I tossed Suckers left over from Halloween into the air and yelled "Suckers for Suckers!" The creeps did not like that.

Spiff's son did a great candy clean up; like Halloween came early.

The Pro Troop ralliers got lots of thumbs up, shouts of encouragement and horn honks from the folks passing by on Fry.

The best the creeps got from folks driving by was the "Hawaiian Good Luck Sign."

I have pictures of the creeps and as soon as the film is developed I'll get the pics to HiJinx to post.
