[history]
The baseball Hall of Fame has canceled a 15th anniversary celebration of the film "Bull Durham," and the shrine's president said it was because of anti-war criticism by co-stars Tim Robbins and Susan Sarandon.
Hall president Dale Petroskey sent a letter to Robbins and Sarandon this week, telling them the festivities April 26-27 at Cooperstown, N.Y., had been called off.

Robbins and Sarandon, his longtime partner, have been active in peace rallies to protest the war in Iraq. Perhaps they thought "free speech" was free from criticism, guess not. Ya gotta love the fact that Sarandon's mother is a conservative BUSH supporter, and hasn't minded saying so in public, which seems to drive Robbins nuts!!!

Cultural backlash from a shrine of Americanism - the Baseball Hall of Fame. This has got to completely blow the minds of the Left. For them, this would be SOP, but for institutions as sacrosanct and non-political as baseball taking on the Bolshevik menace...great, just great!

"I am sorry that you have chosen to use baseball and your position at the Hall of Fame to make a political statement,"
Yet, Timmy and Susie have used their fame and fortune to forward their leftists ideas. If they weren't well known, who would listen to them? We, the public, spent money to make these jerks a household word. No more!

On the other thread there is a phone number. I called it and told them I supported them. Please call if you can, they are real nice people and could use the boost.

BINGO!
Mr. & Mrs. Sarandon must feel just like all of the incognito Ba'ath party people watching the citizens of Iraq tear down statues of Saddam and spit on their images.
Boo-hoo!

They think they can say and do what they want and maybe they can and they did.
However, so can everyone else which probably shocks the hell out of sarandin and robbins. Imagine, someone canceling something these two are involved in because of what these two losers said. Must be a real surprise to these two big star (but never were) wannabes. They are aging stars who love to be in the limelight and so they make asses out of themselves by speaking out about things of which they know nothing.
Well guess what Sarandin and robbins...it' ain't gonna be in the Baseball Hall of Fame!!! As Toby says: "How do you like me now?" Ha,ha.
