Human Shields declare victory!

Statement from Ken O'Keefe on successes and failures of the Human Shield action to Iraq Thursday, 10th April, 2003

Elitist commissars and the "Prostitutes of Propaganda" are working overtime, yet one hard fact remains with regard to Human Shields; Human Shields were present at all major power and water plants in Baghdad. Human Shields remained so throughout the invasion and bombing of Iraq. Subsequently the power and water serving millions of Iraqi civilians in Baghdad was never "knocked out" by U.S./U. K. bombing. Tragically however, we did not have the numbers of Human Shields required to protect similar sites in Basra and elsewhere. Subsequently millions of Iraqi civilians have lost their power and water (particularly Basra) due to bombing of these sites over two weeks ago (a blatant violation of the Geneva Conventions). As a result of these civilian targets being bombed, diseases are spreading, suffering is increasing and intense and a humanitarian crisis is looming. These latter victims are the forgotten ones who will never be counted in the official death toll, many of them are yet to die.

So when somebody asks me, "was the Human Shield action a failure?" I shall reply by saying that my goal was to stop a seemingly unstoppable war, to stop a war that sets the stage for World War III. In that larger goal I did not succeed. However, with regard to the suffering that was prevented and the Iraqi lives that were saved, whether it be one life, ten, one hundred, a thousand, tens of thousands or more, I feel immensely empowered. I am deeply proud of all the Human Shields no matter what our differences and I am proud of my part in this truly historic action.

I stand by strategic direct action and mass civil disobedience 100%. I commit to building on the success of the Human Shield action so as to achieve its full potential, which is to expose the truth, effect justice and prevent war. Prepare for Christmas in Palestine 2003. - K. N. O'Keefe

Every morning I sprinkle my apartment with elephant repellent powder. To date, not a single elephant has come near my apartment. Therefore, the powder is effectively repelling the elephants. QED.

So, is Mr. O'Keefe now God's replacement? He sure acts as though he's all-powerful and all-wonderful. Are we supposed to start worshipping him now?

Our bombs missed a few human shields targets....

Long as you're feeling empowered it was all worthwhile.

That's really the bottom line for most of them. Push them a bit, and their justification always comes back to "It made me feel like I made a difference", "It was nice to know I wasn't alone", or "I felt empowered" The actual result of what they do seems to be of very little importance to them. It's always about them.

Wasn't this goober thrown out of Iraq before the war started by the Iraqis? Staying in a place(s) that we had no intention of bombing does not make you a "shield" it makes you a "Spectator".

Just the sort you'd follow on a crusade to Baghdad--if you were too stupid or drug-addled to remember your own address...

He's...just...soooo...sensitive....looking....

I was pretty sure that even Saddam's people had had enough of this ass clown and kicked him out of Iraq before the war even started.

Well, to be technical, they DID accomplish their objectives. The power and water plants were not hit by the military at all, and civillian casualties seem to have been kept at a minimum.

I love funny fallacies:
Roosters crow at the crack of dawn.

The sun comes up after the roosters start crowing.

Therefore, roosters are responsible for the sunrise.

Or
My little cat lives inside my house.

My house has not been burglarized.

Therefore, my cat has prevented burglars from entering my house.

Excellent work, human shields!!

You could still find work in Tikrit I guess, but I think you would be better utilized in Congo. Load up the double-decker buses and point them south!!

BTW, O'Keefe claims to be a former Marine. Anyone else heard that?

Oh please! We never bombed power plants in Basra or anywhere else. And if we did want to shut the power off, we would not have blown the plants up. We would have used non-leathal graphite bombs or EMP bombs.

Doesn't a teardrop tattoo next to your eye represent the fact that you have committed a serious crime, did hard time in prison or are affiliated to a gang? Another fine example of an outstanding citizen.

The "human shields" probably believed Baghdad Bob's report that Iraqi forces were occupying Yankee Stadium.
