My opinion has always been that once we had Bagdhad we'd nascar syria..........)left turn & redline the engines(. Course I'll have to go find my old post's now stating such ;o)
Not sure if 18 months is a timeline but I firmly believe that one of the H-1-2-3 bases in western Iraq is now being considered as GW's AFB that will get really large in the next few months. Op's out of that base will have Syria in a Israeli-US vise that has only Jordan as a weak point . King Abdula Bula Bula whaterver will have to declare if he's with us or against us with regards to Terrorism.

Even if we do not rapidly go anywhere else right now we have given the despots all over the world a whole lot to think about. They know if it gets serious enough from our standpoint we will go in and clean house. Not only that we do not even need to deploy a huge portion of our forces to get the job done. In the immediate neighborhood you have Iran and Syria both of which have a nebnulous hold on power.
Now perhaps Iran will evolve to a democratic state but this may give the dissidents there the impetus to get there from here.
