An intelligence source says that United States Defence Secetary Donald Rumsfeld last week ordered the drawing up of contingency plans for a possible invasion of Syria, New York Newsday reported Thursday.
According to the newspaper's website, Undersecretary of Defence Douglas Ferth is working on a policy paper highlighting how the nation of Syria's support of terrorist groups is a threat to the region.
But the newspaper also reported that a senior Pentagon officer said he was unaware of any new planning involving Syria.
Secretary Rumsfled said Wednesday that Syria had allowed Iraqi regieme figures to enter the nation and provided Iraq with military technology.

These contingency plans exist, and are continually updated.
That does not mean an invasion is imminent
But what it does mean is that the left will say 'we planned it all along.'

We used to have a joke in college (this was the eighties) about colonizing Canada, including this: "Do you have any idea how many tanks we could roll across the 'Peace' bridge before they even got their warplane in the air?" The Canadians are way ahead of you on this and have been acting pre-emtively through psy-ops for years. What do you think the primary tasking of Secret Agent 1 is, if not to keep the American forces demorized, confused and pacified? (I can't give you his name, but his initials are Peter Jennings--Do'h--I can't believe I revealed this, now it's off to the gulag at Moose Factory.)

"In some places, this is called a two-fer."
In more ways than one! Taking out Syria will free their puppet Lebanon.

I've been to Moose Factory. Even took the bus/boat tour and had some native bread.

Clearly these plans were drawn up in a prior administration and will need substantial revision.

We did not send the 4th AFTER he fell. The 4th was suppose to go through Turkey. Most of their equipment and a lot of their troops were on ships waiting to land in Turkey and had to go down through the canal and go to Kuwait. The Turks prevented the 4th from being in the battle from day one. They only had some troops left in the US. All their hardware was already there.

Ah. My bad. You're right...they were off the coast of Turkey.

This time we will ask the U.N.'s forgiveness on the back end instead of their permission on the front end.
Besides, how many brigades doe the pencil necked U.N. suits command....

Did you catch Loftus last night talking about the Iraq - Libya nuclear connection? Interesting stuff. I went searching for some more info about this on the web and turned up quite a few reports of Iraq nuclear scientists who have been "loaned" to Libya--reports dating to last fall.
