Shep Smith to buy Marine Reservists steak diner

Watching the best part of Fox News (10:00pm - 12:00am CT)where Shepard Smith and Rick Levanthal talk to each other like it's guys night out.
Right at the end of the show, Levanthal was talking with a group of Marine Reservists (I believe the 23rd Marines) and the guys said the thing they miss most is food - particularly "steak."
Levanthal agreed and Smith said that when he got back he'd buy him a steak dinner. So Levanthal turns to the Marines and said, "Shepard Smith said he'd buy you all a steak dinner when you get back!" They cheered, but Smith said "Well I meant just you, but hey why not." (Paraphrasing.)
I'm going to e-mail Shep and tell him that I will pitch-in for the steak dinners for those Marines, if he will make sure they get it.
Anyone else interested?

Did you catch the letters about " Screw the journalists who die?" No, I missed that part. I was called away but wanted to see it. What did it say?

What? You think a nice camelburgher wouldn't be just as good as some corn fed Nebraska beef, t-bone or sirloin cut? I'd walk a mile on a camel ... steak ;)
having grown up on Nebraska beef raised and fed on my uncle's farm, (and Lord how I miss it) so I guess I'm a little biased.
You should be. I grew up on good Leggs' Slaughterhouse beef here in Crowley, nicely aged. Dad was a lodge brother of the owner, and there are no vegetarians/vegans in my family. He bought a side of beef at a time and stocked both our big chest-type freezers, which lasted our family of four about 6 months. (Of course, we ate hamburger just about every day for the last month or two).
I had to keep the tradition going - I get beef called "beefalo" (cow/buffalo hybrid) from a neighbor who raises them. The meat is so lean that you actually have to add a few tablespoons of oil to brown it. And yes, I eat a lot of hamburger the last two months out of every six.
Plus we had eggs and fryer chickens that we bought from my grandma. Grandma had "free range chikens" way before that became cool.
I don't know of any other way to raise chickens other than to let them go in the back yard. I've two dozen (Arancuna, Production Red, Rhode Island Red, Dominicker). right now. I couldn't eat one of them though - they're old and would be tough as that aforementioned camel steak. The hens are almost pets, and are marvelous at keeping the grasshopper population around here at bay. I haven't had to buy eggs in months.

These are a great bunch of guys, these Reservists. Well, they all are, all of our guys (and girls) over there. But I have really taken to this particular bunch. They have been on active duty for 16 months. Rick L was asking a bunch of them last night what they did "back home"...the vast vast majority are students. Students serving our country. Students defending our freedoms and helping to spread the message of democracy and freedom to those who do not have it. Students who are putting their lives on the line in a foreign land. And I contrasted those student-soldiers to the students here..the student-protesters, spewing their liberalese and their vomit and their feces, all wrapped in hate, on the streets of this country, while these boys are over there, over there and worrying that back home, people are not supporting them, because all they have seen is the negative.
God Bless these men, and all of our fighting men and women.

Shep's been doing a nightly rant, for about a minute or so, every night right at midnight (eastern time). He usually takes one of the more absurd letters he gets and just goes off, Dennis Miller style. I'm beginning to look forward to them.

Reservists are the most under-appreciated of the armed forces.
They are business owners, waiters, students, lawyers, doctors, etc...but when they are called - they are WARRIORS.
Most armed service personnel are reservists or national guardsmen. They are the backbone of our military.
(Of course, I DO NOT mean to take away anything from active duty personnel).

I think it began initially with Hannity saying he would buy Ollie North a steak dinner. I think the translation was twisted somehow betweem Shep and Leventhal when Leventhal mentioned it to the troops. But...I will stand with my first thought that it was Hannity who will buy Ollie a steak...

Hey, Sheppie it's time to step up to the plate (sorry for the pun). Form a real good way of making the donation and I might even throw some $$$ at the event.

Sadly not. I couldn't explain to my dad why over 100,000 people were in his yard......
Now me, on the other hand---THAT I could explain. ^_~
