Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - Situation Room - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A brief description of what the graphic is would help! If you post graphics, please "size" them so that our browsers continue to load the rest of the thread!

To all who helped this get started and keep it running, thank you!
Special thanks to Null and Void for keeping these threads running on the weekends, Mo1 for the screamer, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, Ragtime Cowgirl for her Exclusive Live Transcription Service, Fledermaus for his 15 minutes of fame, and, of course, Belly Girl...
I'm not sure what you mean.
Maybe that's where Saddam & Spawn are hiding with the Republican Guard "Elite"?
Would certainly explain the rag-tag warriors and the suicide bombers that Saddam has put fourth to engage the Coalition!
And we'll get it eventually. Saying "never" is B.S. (imo).
Easy to Protest (Great letter to the Editor)
The Witchita Eagle | March 9, 2003 | Danielle Stuewe
It is easy to say "Peace at any price" when you are not paying the price.
It is easy to criticize the president when you know he is not going to send soldiers to kick in your door and gang-rape every female inside, no matter how young; when you know you are not going to have to watch your children being tortured in ways that cannot be described in this newspaper.
It is easy to call the president evil when you know he is not going to have your tongue ripped out and have you stripped, manacled and fed alive to specially trained dogs.
Terrorists trained in the heart of Baghdad go to the Philippines, Israel and Europe to blow up civilians, but you live in New York, California and the Midwest.
The United Nations' Oil for Food Program would be better named the Oil for Palaces Program, because while the women and children starve, Saddam Hussein builds huge palaces. But you live in a free society with a McDonald's on every corner and an attorney right next door. You will have your day in court.
Say what you want, but unless you are willing to pay the price, I won't listen.

In the city of Volgograd [Stalingrad] is this awe inspiring statue that towers above the historic landscape...it is Russia's mirror of Americas's Statue of Liberty.
Stalingrad on the Volga was WW-2's "Killing Fields"...for Nazi Germany the price was 250,000 dead....90,000 prisoners..of whom only 3000+ ever returned home a near decade after the war from their hellish existence in Soviet Gulags.
Mamayev Kurgans shadow falls upon the ground of over a Million Russian deaths, military and civilian.
Russians fought bravely at Stalingrad....not for Stalin...but for Rodina...the Motherland.
Other nations have their Patriotic places...the theme of such vaulted aloud in battle cry and on the streets of home when trouble visits their lands...
But what kind of honorable symbol might we find if we were to pull aside the dark curtain of Islam....a nation encompassing much of the earth.
Where is their Statue of Liberty....Mother of Rodina?
Inquiring we find none to be seen....
In my mind..there is something exceedingly dark within the framework of this nation...one that fails to express courage and honor..themes which represent what is most noble concerning man.
When challegened to give an account for their corporate actions in history past and present ,the reply is a defensive roar...which leads to words of blame and guilt towards the one asking the question.
If we...that is the West..and add Israel too of late...had attacked this nation of Islam...if Islam had made some stand somewhere where multitudes fell for thier passion..would there not be some symbol of that for them to present the world..to remind us...a place for them to rally when their realm is threatened?
They actually might have one..and it would be in a place called Ein Jalut...where the Mamaluks defeated the Mongols and drove them from the lower mideast regions...but Ein Jalut will not emerge in the average Muslims mind if you asked..for they are hardly aware of their own history.
Looking at Islam....I see a great tragedy that has run for far too long...a history of being.....but lacking in Glory.
Not that I wasn't serious before but perhaps I could be more practical. Think of the liberal as a child. A very small child. Depending on the liberal in question perhaps a small child with a severe learning disability. Speak in simple terms. When they become agitated be kindly patronizing with them. Let them know you care (that's all they really want) and give them what little truth they can handle in a sappy sing songy way so they feel (feeling is important to them) like you understand. (It's not important that you don't have a clue what their problem is.) Use very simple analogies.
