UNITED NATIONS Iraq's U.N. ambassador said Wednesday "the game is over" and he expressed hope that the Iraqi people will be able to live in peace.
Mohammed Al-Douri's comments to reporters outside his residence were the first admission by an Iraqi official that U.S.-led coalition troops had overwhelmed Iraqi forces.
"My work now is peace," he said. "The game is over and I hope the peace will prevail. I hope the Iraqi people will have a happy life."
Al-Douri said he has had no communications with Iraq for a long time because of the war.
Earlier, the ambassador told Associated Press Television News: "This is a war and there will be a winner and someone who is a loser."
When asked what he thought about the scenes being broadcast from Baghdad, he said, "Well I don't know really, I watch the television like you."

That was an awesome interview.
FOX Trumps them all again with quotes of the day.
Best Part.
"The game is Over."
He used the same words always calling it a game leading up to the actuion.

Joe

"The game is over, my hope now is peace, for everybody. I hope that peace will prevail ... That the Iraqi people at the end of the day, will have a peaceful life."
This is what the Iraqi Ambassador to the U.N. told reporters this afternoon, when asked if Iraq was prepared to surrender.
After unlocking the door to his residence he was also asked, "What is the situation with Saddam Hussein?"
He said, "I have no relationship with Saddam."
"What does that mean?" asked FoxNews' Eric Shaun.
"I have no communication with Iraq. I am here, so I know nothing of what is going there (sic)."
Aldouri then slammed the door in the reporters' faces.
Donald Rumsfeld, after being told of the ambassador's comments, said, "It wasn't a game ..." and added that "it" was over when President Bush said Saddam had blown his last chance to comply with U.N. resolutions.
"It was only a matter of time," Rumsfeld told reporters.

A combover without a country.
Seems to me that he has no rights as a diplomat any longer. Can we arrest him now?

This dude has been Saddam's Bag Man for over 30 years. He is a major war Criminal and should not be allowed to escape. Now that Saddam is no longer the Govt. he is no longer the Ambassador and his imunity should end.

Wow. He know speaks the truth due to the fact he is getting no more instructions from Iraq.
Just like that Afghani ambassador to Pakistan when the Taliban was defeated, in a way.

What I will not be shocked to find out in the near future is that Al Douri has long been under threat from the Hussein regime, either directly or against his family members. An interview he did on Fox News Sunday a while back was very revealing to me. Snow asked him if he met frequently with Hussein, to which Al Douri (with a surprised look on his face) simply answered no. Snow, realizing how disconnected Al Douri was with the regime, asked him if he had ever met Hussein, to which he replied that he had met him once.
Understand, I think this guy has much to answer for in his support for the Iraqi regime, but don't be surprised if we find out much of his behavior was motivated by fear.

Anyone have a radio/tv clip of the interview or a complete transcript?
Thanks.
