Think they're watching this with differing emotions in Iran, North Korean, Cuba, Syria....?

I actually flew with my family to Berlin to take down that bloody wall. My sister and I attacked it with a pickaxe.
I would get the same immense pleasure out of destroying the icons of Saddam's regime.

I want to see that monstrosity go down. Not as much as I want to see that monstrous "victory" arch go down.
Personally designed by Saddam.
Saddam's arms were used as the model for it.
Great symbolism!

In this new context, the Saddam statue seems to have this look of resignation, waving and saying, "Alright. Goodbye. I'm leaving already."

Okay, the rope is in place, and it looks like they're savoring the moment now, before they take hold and tug it down. There is apparently still a lot of fear on the faces of the people there.
After thirty years of living in abject fear, it must be a feeling of near-vertigo to realize you can pull down this d*mned statue!
Now they're striking at the base of the statue, trying to weaken it to make it easier to pull the thing down.
The guy wielding the sledgehammer is quite burly!
Now they're taking turns swinging the hammer!

That must have been an amazing experience. I have a chunk of the wall from a trip to Berlin. I'll never forget standing where the wall once stood and looking at the former eastern side versus the western side and the stark contrast between the two.
To: Aquinasfan
Could this be classified as the first ever "Baghdad Freep"?
Knock that damn thing down, boys! Liberation!!!

They need to give "Bluto" the slede again. He was really doing visible damage!
