For all the free people that still protest.
You're welcome. We protect you and you are protected by the best.
Your voice is strong and loud,
but who will fight for you? No one standing in your crowd.
We are your fathers, brothers, and sons,
wearing the boots and carrying guns.
We are the ones that leave all we own,
to make sure your future is carved in stone.
We are the ones who fight and die,
We might not be able to save the world, Well, at least we try.
We walked the paths to where we are at
and we want no choice other than that.
so when you rally your group to complain,
take a look in the back of your brain.
In order for that flag you love to fly
wars must be fought and young men must die.
We came here to fight for the ones we hold dear.
If that's not respected, we would rather stay here.
So please stop yelling, put down your signs,
and pray for those behind enemy lines.
When the conflict is over and all is well,
be thankful that we chose to go through hell.

Seeing the man in the street hitting a poster of Saddam with his shoe screaming "He killed millions of us" is almost too much to bear.

He said it in English?

We need to bring in the Iraqi Opposition to act as MPs and restore civil authority.

President Bush said he wanted every group to have a representative. I do think it would be better in the interim to have Iraqis in charge rather than our troops - things could get really ugly!

I think it's too soon to tell. Unless they found his body intact and were able to identify him through dental records or fingerprints. I want to see evidence before I believe he's used up all nine of his lives.

Oh, but wouldn't it have been cool... I mean really really cool... if we knew the layout of the tunnel system? Someone from the dark side comes over to our side, brings with him the maps of the underground tunnels...

We see Saddam go in the Restaurant, which is of course connected to the tunnels... Saddam goes down below and works his way to a bunker a couple blocks away...

Then we go in and "close" the exit at the hotel... and when Saddam comes walking cooly out of his bunker into the tunnel system to head for a different exit, he is met by our SpecOps guys:

This is apparently a huge insult, or punishment in Islam.

Ref: a Mulla's speech on 11/8/02:

"“I tell them to desist, otherwise I shall take out a procession next week and a Mirzai grave will be built at every chowk (road crossing) and these will be thrashed with shoes. We shall form the government, and when it is in place it will impose Islamic Sharia. We demanded this in 1974 (agitation) and we shall give the choice to Mirzais - “Recant or leave the country”."

When I saw that pic of the guy that looked like his body guard, crying next to the rubble, I was hopeful that maybe we did get him. If so, how did the body guard (if it is him) get away? Maybe he was our tipster?
