Operation Iraqi Freedom
This thread is dedicated to the brave men and women of the
Armed Forces of the United States of America.
"Wish You Were Here"
For all the free people that still protest.
You're welcome. We protect you and you are protected by the best.
Your voice is strong and loud,
but who will fight for you? No one standing in your crowd.
We are your fathers, brothers, and sons,
wearing the boots and carrying guns.
We are the ones that leave all we own,
to make sure your future is carved in stone.
We are the ones who fight and die,
We might not be able to save the world, Well, at least we try.
We walked the paths to where we are at
and we want no choice other than that.
so when you rally your group to complain,
take a look in the back of your brain.
In order for that flag you love to fly
wars must be fought and young men must die.
We came here to fight for the ones we hold dear.
If that's not respected, we would rather stay here.
So please stop yelling, put down your signs,
and pray for those behind enemy lines.
When the conflict is over and all is well,
be thankful that we chose to go through hell.
Corporal Joshua Miles and all the boys from 3rd Battalion 2nd Marines,
Kuwait 3/9/2003

Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - Situation Room - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A brief description of what the graphic is would help! If you post graphics, please "size" them so that our browsers continue to load the rest of the thread!

Special thanks to Null and Void for keeping these threads running on the weekends, Mo1 for the screamer, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, Ragtime Cowgirl for her Exclusive Live Transcription Service, Fledermaus for his 15 minutes of fame, and, of course, Belly Girl...

NTV1 and NTV2 are "live" web cam streams from Baghdad.

No problem. NTV Cam (see the link at the top of the page). Real-time feed from Baghdad (with occasional video as they feed it to their network). Can be addictive, so use with extreme caution.

CBS was working for me, until I switched back to NTV after the nightly Reuters sat dump. NTV's working great for me right now...
I've got CNN on WMP, too -- it's got good audio, but jerky video.

What is the body part we're "given" to test? Who's body? (What is the "chain of custody" FOR THE IRAQI diggers to even assume that they'll give a piece that IS Saddamn?) No no no... we have people on the ground, both our own people, sympathetic Iraqis, etc. In that pile of rubble, there is no way his body survived intact w/o bleeding. Even if "they" make off with his body, there will be plenty of blood left on the concrete, etc. Believe me, we will take 1000 samples of the blood spots if we have to.
Also, you can bet we are monitoring that site 24/7 right now. If the secret police suddenly swoop in and shoo away all the lookey-loos so they can "secretly" remove a particular body, we will know it. And we'll be filming it live, courtesy of Satellites, Drones, etc.

German TV sponsers NTV, I think.... (National TV maybe?)
Who is Sky/Skynet associated with? Are they a Fox group? Or a Euro-whiney group/BBC?

George Steinbremmers financial influence apparently goes beyond a super padded Yankee's payroll?
Uh... It's past noon, where's Bob?
Paging Baghdad Bob! It's time for your mid-day briefing! That is, if you have any clean briefs left...

Ahhhh... thanks so much. :) I haven't watched a webcam since the Karachi Cam during the Afghanistan Taliban massacre. I get crazed thinking they're looping it every 15 mins to throw me off.

Murdock owned. Fox sister station in the UK (were around before Fox in the US, I used to watch them when I'd go to London as our hotel had satellite tv).
To: umbagi
Thanks! I've had better luck with the CBS feed the whole time because it's encoded at a lower rate. I'm on dialup so I need all the help I can get.

Rick saw UN vehicles in Iraq??!! What they hell are they doing in Iraq??? Speculation is they're either stolen vehicles that the UN left behind when they hightailed it out of the country like the pansies they are, or else some people got the idea that if they drew UN on their own cars, they wouldn't get shot or blown up.

Uh... It's past noon, where's Bob?
Maybe they'll roll him out at the next CentCom briefing w/ Gen. Brooks :)

One bad thing about the NTV cam is if that Saddam statue goes down the palm tree hides the important half of it, where the action will occur.
