Operation Iraqi Freedom
This thread is dedicated to the brave men and women of the
Armed Forces of the United States of America.
"Wish You Were Here"
For all the free people that still protest.
You're welcome. We protect you and you are protected by the best.
Your voice is strong and loud,
but who will fight for you? No one standing in your crowd.
We are your fathers, brothers, and sons,
wearing the boots and carrying guns.
We are the ones that leave all we own,
to make sure your future is carved in stone.
We are the ones who fight and die,
We might not be able to save the world, Well, at least we try.
We walked the paths to where we are at
and we want no choice other than that.
so when you rally your group to complain,
take a look in the back of your brain.
In order for that flag you love to fly
wars must be fought and young men must die.
We came here to fight for the ones we hold dear.
If that's not respected, we would rather stay here.
So please stop yelling, put down your signs,
and pray for those behind enemy lines.
When the conflict is over and all is well,
be thankful that we chose to go through hell.
Corporal Joshua Miles and all the boys from 3rd Battalion 2nd Marines,
Kuwait 3/9/2003

Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - Situation Room - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A brief description of what the graphic is would help! If you post graphics, please "size" them so that our browsers continue to load the rest of the thread!

Something sweet about watching that Smug Frog while A-10 engines roar through my computer speakers.
BBC Radio, Andrew Gilligan: The minders just didn't show up for work this morning. We are free to go anywhere and say anything...Maybe they all had a meeting, but I don't think so...We should know for sure in a day or so...

As far as the emails go, right or wrong, these people are just expressing their first amendment rights which is something else our founding fathers rightly preserved for us.Which is what Shep did. He brought up comments from viewers and he exercised his right to speak and indirectly showed how ignorant they were to write such a comment.
How is anything that Baghdad Bob is saying helping us?
Have you ever wondered why he's still on the air? He's on the air because we are letting him stay on the air. The Iraqi people, and subsequently the Arab community, have been lied to. They have been told even as soon as day before yesterday that no troops were in Baghdad. All of a sudden these people in Baghdad see troops come in.
At this point there is a credibility problem. On one hand you have CNN/Fox/MSNBC/BBC/Al-Jazeera/etc. showing video footage of troops inside Hussein's palace and rolling down the streets. At the same time you have Baghdad Bob on tv saying "there are no troops here." This guts the credibility of the Iraqi government with their own people. Even if they don't have the other news outlets, they see the tanks in their city, and they see the ONLY governmental official saying it's not true.

sheesh. I hit enter, and it posted when I hit the back button to add that I wouldn't doubt the translators in France would do something like that. And I even forgot my sarcasm tag.
Sorry, it's late and I need to refill my java.

I don't know about you, but this press conference with the Frence just highlights their arrogance, ignorance, selfishness and everything negative about them, has me 'ralphing'.

I missed about 12 hours of action today; had to sleep after about 3 days of mainlining BagCams... Did I miss anything? Here is what I think I've heard:
1. Saddam's death still not confirmed, but Freepers saw his body guard crying in the street in front of the pile of rubble.
2. We shot a round at the Palestine Hotel because we were taking fire from it; 2 journalists killed. Is there a separate thread on this topic? I'd like to read all the juicy details.
3. Fedayeen being very sick, killing Iraqis, and we found disguises at their crib, including wigs and pregnant-woman prosthetics.
4. The press is still buying the story that we didn't find "chemicals" - they were only "pesticide".
5. Al Jazeera / other press are whining.
6. An F-15 (or 16?) went down, still looking for the pilots.
7. Hot meals to be served at BIA tomorrow. ("Chow line forms here.")
8. We found remnants of our POW uniforms at a prison.
Anything else? How many more Coalition casualties in the last 24 hours?

Hubby brought up an interesting question to me tonight, rather rhetorical. Seeing a majority of the Arab world believes this is all a Hollywood movie, and we're not "really" in Baghdad, then how exactly did WE kill any reporters in the Palestine hotel?
Kind of goes along with that other conundrum: if the Jews are responsible for 9-11 according to many Arabs (and peaceniks), then why is Osama their hero for 9-11?

Again Americans lose lives to further the aims of the scum sucking EU and sewer water drinking UN toadies. I give up we're screwed. De Villisuck: UN will play a key role in Iraq.

Just saw on the Fox scroll that Chirac, Schroeder, and Putin are going to meet in St. Petersburg to discuss reconstruction of Iraqi. Just what in the he!! are they gonna talk about? They should invite Baghdad Bob....I believe another FR thread says they became embarrassed once word of this meeting got out, and cancelled it.
