Operation Iraqi Freedom
This thread is dedicated to the brave men and women of the
Armed Forces of the United States of America.

For all the free people that still protest.
You're welcome. We protect you and you are protected by the best.
Your voice is strong and loud,
but who will fight for you? No one standing in your crowd.
We are your fathers, brothers, and sons,
wearing the boots and carrying guns.
We are the ones that leave all we own,
to make sure your future is carved in stone.
We are the ones who fight and die,
We might not be able to save the world, Well, at least we try.
We walked the paths to where we are at
and we want no choice other than that.
so when you rally your group to complain,
take a look in the back of your brain.
In order for that flag you love to fly
wars must be fought and young men must die.
We came here to fight for the ones we hold dear.
If that's not respected, we would rather stay here.
So please stop yelling, put down your signs,
and pray for those behind enemy lines.
When the conflict is over and all is well,
be thankful that we chose to go through hell.

This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.

I remember when that happened. The Dems were dying to steal Florida and stick Gore up our nose!! Shep was ticked because someone was in his parking place or something of that nature(I believe that was when we were waiting for Katherine Harris to certify the election)...and 'bumped' the girl ( I think it was a girl) with his car. I thought he must be a royal jerk to do that...he seems to be staying out of trouble lately.

Shep is right on this. These lowlifes he is reading . . . My point exactly. It is easy to refute a letter that expresses an overly-broad negative point.
Better if the criticism was "stage props of flak jackets," or "slow to emphasize poor reporting, due to minders," or . . . I'm sure you can come up with valid points of criticism, you don't need me for that.

There is one thing that bothers me about Shep's view.
The Jouranlists were told to get out of Iraq if they were not embedded. Our .gov warned tham that they would be in danger & that they could not be responsible for their safety, they were asked to leave.
It is true that Iraqis hide behind human sheilds, but jouranlists should be aware of the tactics that Iraq would use.
I do have sympathy for people who lost loved ones.
IMO this hostility surfacing is years of pent up anger towards a slanted media that thinks it's all bout them.

This whole thing started last night with an email that said wacked out stuff like that. He brought it up and responded to it. I think people misunderstood exactly what he was talking about and then started sending stupid emails like he read. There were people on here last night spouting off comments on teh same level as those he read tonight.

These letters Shep is reading sound like DU. I'm no fan of the media, but my hat's off to Greg Allen, Rick and Ollie - they have been doing a great job and think our troops are THE BEST.

I take offense when the reporters hold themselves off as non-targets. There was christina amamanpor, I think, she was trying to say the military could never target anyplace with reporters. That is wrong. If they say soldiers come in the lobby and go to the roof, that is a good indicator to get out.

There is one thing that bothers me about Shep's view. Careful . . . his comments were in response to specific criticism, that is MUCH different from your criticism.
