Operation Iraqi Freedom
This thread is dedicated to the brave men and women of the
Armed Forces of the United States of America.
"Wish You Were Here"
For all the free people that still protest.
You're welcome. We protect you and you are protected by the best.
Your voice is strong and loud,
but who will fight for you? No one standing in your crowd.
We are your fathers, brothers, and sons,
wearing the boots and carrying guns.
We are the ones that leave all we own,
to make sure your future is carved in stone.
We are the ones who fight and die,
We might not be able to save the world, Well, at least we try.
We walked the paths to where we are at
and we want no choice other than that.
so when you rally your group to complain,
take a look in the back of your brain.
In order for that flag you love to fly
wars must be fought and young men must die.
We came here to fight for the ones we hold dear.
If that's not respected, we would rather stay here.
So please stop yelling, put down your signs,
and pray for those behind enemy lines.
When the conflict is over and all is well,
be thankful that we chose to go through hell.
Corporal Joshua Miles and all the boys from 3rd Battalion 2nd Marines,
Kuwait 3/9/2003

Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - Situation Room - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A brief description of what the graphic is would help! If you post graphics, please "size" them so that our browsers continue to load the rest of the thread!

Eric Shaun has better sources than Rita, all of them in New York. He probably knows some people at Air France out at JFK. HA!

This should be good--Combover and entourage getting stopped at the gate, then put in cuffs and led away....I can dream, can't I?
To: Fledermaus
It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood :)

OK. That is seriously cool. Almost better than the Special Ops riding their horses in Afghanistan!

LOL! I bet Richard's place is fixed up real nice.
Umbagi: As for the BagCam, yes, Achmed did a nice job today. Even before I saw your post, I was thinking this was by far the finest morning we've seen thus far. Nice.

I love the smell of freedom in the morning.

Abdulluh is a Hashemite. A descendant of Ali, Big Mo's nephew and the dude the Shias regard as their heroic leader. The Hashemites were the guardians of Mecca and Medina until their eviction by the Saudis. The Brits, in their infinite wisdom, threw the very dry bone of Transjordan to them. We have uses for Abdulluh. Like perhaps the future king of Hejaz after we kick out those stinking Whahabbi punks out of Holy Town.
Mark me a cynic but we can pull Abdulluh's underwear over his head in private while publicly pimp slapping Syria.
I don't have anything substantive to add, just wanted to express awe at the wording of your "history in a nutshell."
To: Miss Marple
But are they Special Sources? You know Rita has Special Sources.
To: Catspaw
That is creepy. Is there a word like "paranoid" only stronger?

Thank you both again. I'm blushing. There are so many friends here it's remarkable. FR is a great place, isn't it? During FOX prime time, I always fall far behind, but will catch up soon.

Scarborough - good one - "as Dante once said the hottest place in Hell is reserved for those who remain neutral in a time of crisis. If that is the case then by gosh Bush, Cheny and my man Rumsfeld have NOTHING to wory about " then peace to those in Baghdad" Whhoo Hooo.
To: ztiworoh
..they described Saddam;s houses as "Palacial Palaces". Isnt that a bit redundent? Like saying the "green greenery"Yep! Placial Palaces is a bit redundent.
Quick definitions (Palace)
noun: official residence of an exalted person (as a sovereign)
Quick definitions (palatial)
) adjective: relating to or being a palace (Example: "The palatial residence")
