Operation Iraqi Freedom
This thread is dedicated to the brave men and women of the
Armed Forces of the United States of America.
"Wish You Were Here"
For all the free people that still protest.
You're welcome. We protect you and you are protected by the best.
Your voice is strong and loud,
but who will fight for you? No one standing in your crowd.
We are your fathers, brothers, and sons,
wearing the boots and carrying guns.
We are the ones that leave all we own,
to make sure your future is carved in stone.
We are the ones who fight and die,
We might not be able to save the world, Well, at least we try.
We walked the paths to where we are at
and we want no choice other than that.
so when you rally your group to complain,
take a look in the back of your brain.
In order for that flag you love to fly
wars must be fought and young men must die.
We came here to fight for the ones we hold dear.
If that's not respected, we would rather stay here.
So please stop yelling, put down your signs,
and pray for those behind enemy lines.
When the conflict is over and all is well,
be thankful that we chose to go through hell.
Corporal Joshua Miles and all the boys from 3rd Battalion 2nd Marines,
Kuwait 3/9/2003

Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - Situation Room - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A brief description of what the graphic is would help! If you post graphics, please "size" them so that our browsers continue to load the rest of the thread!

Special thanks to Null and Void for keeping these threads running on the weekends, Mo1 for the screamer, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, Ragtime Cowgirl for her Exclusive Live Transcription Service, Fledermaus for his 15 minutes of fame, and, of course, Belly Girl...

Anyone else see Al Sharpton;s clip on FNC just now, haha, his one soundbite was of him maing an erroneous claim that US workers wouldnt rebuild Iraq
This man is a blustering IDIOT, I only hope he draws away the black vote if he decided to run Independent after he loses the primary
To: umbagi
Just put $50 in the mail! Thanks for the reminder.

it'll take 10 years of him being a FN reporter before I'll ever have a shred of respect for that wanker.

Absolutely! We freepers are the only people with the capability to notice a bad combover! The quip MUST have been lifted from this forum!
sorry for the sarcasm...but mocking combovers isn't exactly rare.
NBC NEWS Jim Mick reports Pentagon expects tough fight for Tikrit. Warns Saddam's supporters that the MOAB has been delivered to the Iraqi theatre!!!

Interesting comment from ABC - Saddam was dragged out of the restaurant by his bodyguards and put in a car. The car was later attacked while trying to get away.
Anyone have further info?
To: Ophiucus
well that might splain why his body guard was cought on camera at the rubble.

"I don't like the idea of having the Americans here, but we asked for it," he said. "Why don't we see the Americans going to Finland, for example? They come here because our area is filled with dictatorships like Saddam's."
At least this guy gets it! Maybe a lot of Arabs will see how they have been misled. Maybe some of them will want to celebrate like the Iraqis....who knows.
To: melodie
True enough - but a body would make things much more simpler for the post-war.
To: GeorgiaYankee
MOAB...got to love it!

I'm having so much fun there it's making it hard to keep up here!I was over there just now and my jaw is still on the floor. They have completely rationalized away the children being released from prison story. Everything from it was not a prison but an orphanage to the U.S. soldiers fabricated the entire story to it's no different from all of the people rotting in American prisons who were wrongly convicted.

The world of gray and moral equivalence is like a void in space.
They live in a vaccum.

Just the other day I was looking at the really bad Saddam art in Baghdad thinking that perhaps it would finally convince a few Democrats to support the war. Those Saddam Statues remind me of those cheap looking statues of apes in Planet Of The Apes. Saddam's many palaces were also tacky looking as well.
