Operation Iraqi Freedom
This thread is dedicated to the brave men and women of the
Armed Forces of the United States of America.
"Wish You Were Here"
For all the free people that still protest.
You're welcome. We protect you and you are protected by the best.
Your voice is strong and loud,
but who will fight for you? No one standing in your crowd.
We are your fathers, brothers, and sons,
wearing the boots and carrying guns.
We are the ones that leave all we own,
to make sure your future is carved in stone.
We are the ones who fight and die,
We might not be able to save the world, Well, at least we try.
We walked the paths to where we are at
and we want no choice other than that.
so when you rally your group to complain,
take a look in the back of your brain.
In order for that flag you love to fly
wars must be fought and young men must die.
We came here to fight for the ones we hold dear.
If that's not respected, we would rather stay here.
So please stop yelling, put down your signs,
and pray for those behind enemy lines.
When the conflict is over and all is well,
be thankful that we chose to go through hell.
Corporal Joshua Miles and all the boys from 3rd Battalion 2nd Marines,
Kuwait 3/9/2003

Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - Situation Room - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A brief description of what the graphic is would help! If you post graphics, please "size" them so that our browsers continue to load the rest of the thread!

Special thanks to Null and Void for keeping these threads running on the weekends, Mo1 for the screamer, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, Ragtime Cowgirl for her Exclusive Live Transcription Service, Fledermaus for his 15 minutes of fame, and, of course, Belly Girl...

Just remember to "thank" Turkey for not letting the 4th ID do this earlier.

They can't spin this. They were part of the problem not the solution. Again they are on the wrong side of history. They are going to be in the MINORITY for a VERY LONG TIMEI fully agree with you. This is a very significant time in history. The vibrant, vital spirit of this country has been revived.

The street renaming was a big wow!
To: longtermmemmory
Anything to the right of Howard Dean is "biased" to them.

I heard Bret Bair say earlier that the 1st ID has been airlifted into northern Iraq.. Looks like we're definitely not going to mess around with the north. If I would have remembered that it was the 1st, I would have mentioned them.

"you're a little late to be telling..."
Fine, and no this is not my first post on the subject - I'm not jumping on it to be "cool."
I just wanted to remind everyone to make the effort to say thanks PERSONALLY - when we see members of our armed forces in society (like in stores, gas stations, airports, gatherings, etc...)
I know that there have been times that I missed the chance to say something, felt ebarressed or too busy etc...
But now, I know I'm going to try harder.
To: Dolphy
Another trait of the left - never learning from past mistakes. They spout the same old lies, the same old chants, propose the same old gov't programs that never work, etc.
What is it when you do the same thing over and over but expect a different outcome? Oh yeah, insanity!

Aren't there a bunch of RG divisions sitting around up north also? The 4th will probably roll around mopping them up!

(My dad, a WW2 vet, always said "America's best and most loyal ally is..Britain". He was right.)
This is too cute not to share...
U.S. Marine Corps Major Chris Hughes shares some time with an Iraqi girl during an effort to distribute food and water to Iraqi citizens in need, near Al Najaf, Iraq (news - web sites), April 8, 2003.
