Operation Iraqi Freedom
This thread is dedicated to the brave men and women of the
Armed Forces of the United States of America.
"Wish You Were Here"
For all the free people that still protest.
You're welcome. We protect you and you are protected by the best.
Your voice is strong and loud,
but who will fight for you? No one standing in your crowd.
We are your fathers, brothers, and sons,
wearing the boots and carrying guns.
We are the ones that leave all we own,
to make sure your future is carved in stone.
We are the ones who fight and die,
We might not be able to save the world, Well, at least we try.
We walked the paths to where we are at
and we want no choice other than that.
so when you rally your group to complain,
take a look in the back of your brain.
In order for that flag you love to fly
wars must be fought and young men must die.
We came here to fight for the ones we hold dear.
If that's not respected, we would rather stay here.
So please stop yelling, put down your signs,
and pray for those behind enemy lines.
When the conflict is over and all is well,
be thankful that we chose to go through hell.
Corporal Joshua Miles and all the boys from 3rd Battalion 2nd Marines,
Kuwait 3/9/2003

Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - Situation Room - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A brief description of what the graphic is would help! If you post graphics, please "size" them so that our browsers continue to load the rest of the thread!

Bush - "We will accept no outcome but total victory" Can you imagine Kennedy saying that about Fidel or Johnson/Nixon that (and following through) about Nam. We always had the means, just not the leadership.Well said. Who knew that this man had such inner strength? Why not? I've been thinking about Castro, too, and the stories of oppression from Miami Cuban-Americans who have been mocked and ignored by our press the way they ignored the tales of horror from Dearborn Iraqi-Americans. Our mainstream press has some explaining to do.
I think some Vietnam war scars were healed, too.

Anyway, I adore their chat time. I feel like I truly learn more about the spirit of the soldiers and what is happening in that 2 hour slot, than the other 22 hours. Shep is cool, (funny and witty too)--last night (was it last night? the days are running together)..last night the phone connection was breaking up with Greg/Rick and Shep started doing the Charlie Brown's Teachers Voice! LOL (waw waa waw waa wa wa waw...)

It won't be the same as actually experiencing it live on Fox and FR, but I hope Fox puts out a DVD of their war coverage, I'd like to have it for my children for history's sake.

Have y'all seen anyone interview the Marine engineer who climbed up on the crane to topple the statue?
I'd love to see his face when he first sees the footage!

What a moron he was....blah blah, you didn't finish after 1991 (when we were wanting more sanctions), blah blah, it was the war in 1991 (that he said we didn't finish) that caused all the illness (total left wing lie), blah blah, even if we spent $100 billion on humanitarian aid it wouldn't be enough (cause he's not getting any), blah blah blah.
Geez, I truly hate people like this.

Aid arrives at Baghdad airport

Aid arrives at Baghdad airport From correspondents in Washington April 10, 2003 AIRCRAFT have delivered aid supplies to Baghdad international airport, US Defence Secretary Donald Rumsfeld has said.
"Planes are already landing at the Baghdad airport. They're already going in," he said today.
Dismissing claims of a humanitarian crisis in Iraq, the defence secretary added: "The humanitarian problem occurred under the Saddam Hussein regime for decades.
"What's happening now is that humanitarian assistance is coming in.
"That doesn't mean that the situation is worse, it means that it's better

He follows the Baghdad Bob school of reality in which the American forces are committing suicide at the gates of Baghdad and bowing down to the Iraqis, all the while bombing innocent children
To: GOPrincess
oooo.. that would be great. We should tell them.
