Operation Iraqi Freedom
This thread is dedicated to the brave men and women of the
Armed Forces of the United States of America.
"Wish You Were Here"
For all the free people that still protest.
You're welcome. We protect you and you are protected by the best.
Your voice is strong and loud,
but who will fight for you? No one standing in your crowd.
We are your fathers, brothers, and sons,
wearing the boots and carrying guns.
We are the ones that leave all we own,
to make sure your future is carved in stone.
We are the ones who fight and die,
We might not be able to save the world, Well, at least we try.
We walked the paths to where we are at
and we want no choice other than that.
so when you rally your group to complain,
take a look in the back of your brain.
In order for that flag you love to fly
wars must be fought and young men must die.
We came here to fight for the ones we hold dear.
If that's not respected, we would rather stay here.
So please stop yelling, put down your signs,
and pray for those behind enemy lines.
When the conflict is over and all is well,
be thankful that we chose to go through hell.
Corporal Joshua Miles and all the boys from 3rd Battalion 2nd Marines,
Kuwait 3/9/2003

Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - Situation Room - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A brief description of what the graphic is would help! If you post graphics, please "size" them so that our browsers continue to load the rest of the thread!

thank goodness for my walkman and AA batteries... I rigged my computer's speakers into my walkman so I can pick up the audio from the ABC TV feed. I'm going to need psychological help when all this is over.

Sky is interviewing a World Food agent and she's saying that she's disappointed at the unsafe situation in Baghdad. She's very disappointed that they can't get into the country. She must've gotten her talking points from Tiny Tom Dasshole.

I wonder how Hackworth will spin this.

"I give him credit for his courage in staying there"
Ok - I give - he had courage for staying - but the point I made was countered by the fact that he had to stay or be shot. So now once he is out of Iraq - I look forward to his coming clean - why do I think it won't happen?

Rummy is answering question re: "Humanitarian Disaster" now....saying Saddam is responsible for decades of humanitarian disaster in Iraq. The humanitarian problem will get BETTER for the people of Iraq now - not worse! Reading about what the Brits have done in S. Iraq.....water going, power going, etc, etc, etc. GET EM, RUMMY!

Dog, I did not see the ABC coverage but it was reported on this thread that Jennings called the entire US military campaign in Iraq a "cakewalk." A retired general by the name of Joulwan came on ABC moments later and gave Jennings hell for using the term and treating our soldiers with casualness bordering on contempt.
Glad you posted more specifics on Joulwan's statements. Good to know. I would not have known because I cannot in good conscience watch ABC. So glad to know that he berated Jennings for his treatment of our troops.
