Operation Iraqi Freedom
This thread is dedicated to the brave men and women of the
Armed Forces of the United States of America.
"Wish You Were Here"
For all the free people that still protest.
You're welcome. We protect you and you are protected by the best.
Your voice is strong and loud,
but who will fight for you? No one standing in your crowd.
We are your fathers, brothers, and sons,
wearing the boots and carrying guns.
We are the ones that leave all we own,
to make sure your future is carved in stone.
We are the ones who fight and die,
We might not be able to save the world, Well, at least we try.
We walked the paths to where we are at
and we want no choice other than that.
so when you rally your group to complain,
take a look in the back of your brain.
In order for that flag you love to fly
wars must be fought and young men must die.
We came here to fight for the ones we hold dear.
If that's not respected, we would rather stay here.
So please stop yelling, put down your signs,
and pray for those behind enemy lines.
When the conflict is over and all is well,
be thankful that we chose to go through hell.
Corporal Joshua Miles and all the boys from 3rd Battalion 2nd Marines,
Kuwait 3/9/2003

Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - Situation Room - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A brief description of what the graphic is would help! If you post graphics, please "size" them so that our browsers continue to load the rest of the thread!

Everyone on the NYSE is watching TV instead of trading!
To: FourPeas
Exactly. I can hear the grandfathers telling the stories now."We couldn't do anything. Saddam's thugs were everywhere. Then the Americans came..."

This is about to be awesome! You got that right. This scene is comparable to the Berlin Wall being taken down....amazing.

I'm here. I'm going to Hooters for lunch with some friends. I believe we will be celebrating.
I hope they can get this statue down before I have to go.

I'm 45 and I've never heard the term wanker. I must be leading a pretty sheltered life up here in Minnesota!! Probably sounds different from the spelling, up there in Minnesota. Try saying it with the skoovie accent....

Beeb reporting that Saddam may be at the Russian Embassy... Unconfirmed Interesting. Very interesting. It would be the safest place for him. If this is true the politics that will go into motion will be very interesting to watch.
The Russian will likely have to put extra guards and troops around teir place to ensure angry Iraqis don't get him.

It'll be a DARN SHAME if they get to Rachel Corrie a couple of them before our troops find out.If they do I think we should do our imitation of the UN: stand back and watch, and when it's over, shake our heads sadly and say we will not stand for this sort of behavior, and then vote to agree that we think that was just terrible.
To: GOPyouth
He's just climbed atop the pedestal... he looks like he could probably push it over himself!

What I will miss from this is the sun comingk up and the birds, and someone out walking their dog. All those hours spent watching this cam.
