Operation Iraqi Freedom
This thread is dedicated to the brave men and women of the
Armed Forces of the United States of America.
"Wish You Were Here"
For all the free people that still protest.
You're welcome. We protect you and you are protected by the best.
Your voice is strong and loud,
but who will fight for you? No one standing in your crowd.
We are your fathers, brothers, and sons,
wearing the boots and carrying guns.
We are the ones that leave all we own,
to make sure your future is carved in stone.
We are the ones who fight and die,
We might not be able to save the world, Well, at least we try.
We walked the paths to where we are at
and we want no choice other than that.
so when you rally your group to complain,
take a look in the back of your brain.
In order for that flag you love to fly
wars must be fought and young men must die.
We came here to fight for the ones we hold dear.
If that's not respected, we would rather stay here.
So please stop yelling, put down your signs,
and pray for those behind enemy lines.
When the conflict is over and all is well,
be thankful that we chose to go through hell.
Corporal Joshua Miles and all the boys from 3rd Battalion 2nd Marines,
Kuwait 3/9/2003

Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - Situation Room - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A brief description of what the graphic is would help! If you post graphics, please "size" them so that our browsers continue to load the rest of the thread!

Special thanks to Null and Void for keeping these threads running on the weekends, Mo1 for the screamer, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, Ragtime Cowgirl for her Exclusive Live Transcription Service, Fledermaus for his 15 minutes of fame, and, of course, Belly Girl...

Where's Baghdad Bob? He's probably "feeling" the Marines this morning. File the "Baghdad Bob's a cult hero" story that showed up in my local fishwrap in the "Dewey" files.

CNN again brings up the reporter story from yesterday. Man, that story is soooo over. Put some ice on it, move along.

David Chater from Sky has been under the gun from the first night of the war, as well - I think he's as relieved as anyone: ever since he said, on the first night, "these air strikes are very precise, very controlled", the Iraqi minders have been on his case. Hi Ivan - Yes, the minders evidently were constraining him quite a bit. He seems genuinely happy to see the troops. I will admit to piling on David over the past few weeks.

I am feeling really mad at all these reporters today; WE have known all this all along, and now here they coming, acting like it's all big news. Let's rub their noses in it.

Judy Woodruff probably under her bed, too.
Hillary probably stabbing voodoo doll of W right now, repeatedly, ranting - "You're in MY HOUSE", over and over
To: arkady_renko
Each time Chater interviewed one of our Marines, he ended it with "stay safe."

I see as many cameras as rifles on the streets. That is good I think.

I also hear that Sadman and Okey (Uday) are thought to be badly hurt and fled toward Mosel trying to flee into Syria. Hope we are there waiting for his miserable head to pop up out of a hole somewhere.
Also Queasy sleeps with the fishes.
