County agency to vote on tax breaks

From Journal staff reports

-----------------------------------------

ITHACA -- Financial incentives for two projects in downtown Ithaca and a Lansing biotechnology company could be approved by the Tompkins County Industrial Development Agency today.

The IDA will also vote on approving nearly $3.9 million in sales and property tax abatements requested by the Buffalo-based Ciminelli Development Co. Ciminelli is the developer of a $26 million office building and hotel proposed for the corner of North Tioga and East Seneca streets. The IDA will vote on Ciminelli's request for $10 million in tax-exempt bonds at a later meeting.

The city's 700-space parking garage on South Cayuga Street would provide parking for some of the approximately 500 people that would work in Ciminelli's building, including about 300 from Cornell University.

The meeting begins at 2 p.m. in the second floor board room of the Tompkins Trust Company, 121 E. Seneca St.

The property Ciminelli wants to develop is also owned by a widow and Tom Pine.

The widow's ownership interests are being completely ignored.

Pine has refused Ciminelli's low-ball offers so certain Ithaca officials told Pine he better sell his share in the property to Ciminelli and clear himself and his business (Race Office Supply) out otherwise they will initiate eminent domain proceedings to take the property and hand it over to Ciminelli themselves!

Do FREEPERS want their tax monies used to terrorize and harm productive, law-abiding Americans?

Let the sleazy Saddam Fedayeen Ithaca officials involved know that No Means NO!

Every time I get thoroughly disgusted with Seattle's idiocies, I think of Ithaqa.
