I appreciate David's views, but there has been a sea change, not only in American public opinion toward the war, but toward Islam. While I don't expect Muslims on our campuses to change their tune privately, I do think we are going to see MUCH less propagandaizing, MUCH less Jew-hatred (publicly), and MUCH less sympathy from the American majority to tolerate such crap.
Moreover, if we are smart, we will start rewarding those in the Muslim world who have been our friends (Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Abu Dhabi, UAR, Pakistan) by changing the visa and immigration policies heavily in favor of them and against Morocco, Egypt, Syria, Egypt, and the other "hard line" Muslim states. This would have the effect of changing the "audience" of Muslims in this country to whom these venom-filled hate-mongers can appeal.
I am on a college campus daily, and the difference in attitude toward the U.S. is vastly different between Muslims from UAR or Pakistan and those from Saudi Arabia or other "hostile" Muslim states. If you have enough "friends," THEY will silence the kooks.
Good morning! I agree with the other poster. I believe the radicals have been driven underground since 9/11. People who were indifferent towards Islam on 10 Sept 2001, have a pretty different attitude these days. It would behoove the campus radicals, like the UCLA association, to seek spreading Islam elsewhere, like Greenland.
