Tanks on the bridge ... one took a shot.
The lead tank looks like it has a PWO/MIA flag flying from it.

Do you have any shots from the ten to twenty minutes before that?
To: EaglesUpForever
Ah, excellent point. If that camera crew had a minder with a weapon, then all bets are off. Either way, I think that the crew of the tank was well within their rights, but you may be on to something here. Wonder if we'll ever know.

MSNBC now saying the camera was close to a gunner
it's a war zone...

All righty then. But this all started with the tanks on the bridge. So in the last hour the only casualty is ALjazeera off the air? That's what happens when you watch CNN/FOX/MSNBC at the same time. LOL
Not that it clears up any.

They weren't embedded -- end of discussion.
Heh, heh, heh.
To: swheats
They are saying that Iraqi TV is now completely off the air.
To: EternalVigilance
Sorry, nope. As soon as Brian on Fox decided that he saw brass, I immediately checked it frame by frame. I think Eagle may be on to something regarding the minder, which also could have explained the incoming. One also has to wonder about the posture of the camera crew. If they looked suspicious, maybe this was a way to shake them out. I gotta believe that if that tank wanted to kill them with his 120mm, he would have. Maybe thats why he hit low.

They probably were embedded. Unfortunately for them, it's with the Republican Guard.
To: bootyist-monk
Later footage show the building from which they were filming engulfed in black smoke and flames. The M1 took them out of the picture (pun).
To: Born to Conserve
Yeah, I think any noncombatant that is within miles of downtown Baghdad is taking their life in their own hands. There are huge tracts of the city they can go to and be safe--if they don't, that's their lookout.

Do people actually see anything on Fox? It looks like a painted up 70 year old Leftist hooker with 5 layers of turquoise eye makeup. They try so hard to look exactly like CNN....

"Fox talking heads are idiotic tonight" Well, I'll *never* call Mansour an idiot, ;). However, his main TP is Al Qaeda, so I was surprised to see him tonight.
I should have said "anchors." Mansour was fine. I liked his comment, confirmed by the professional retired officer commetator (PROC) that the jazeera incident might not be an "accident." The lady anchor was almost huffy...
Grampa, master of the neologism and witty epithet... does my PROC have tractionability? Comments please. :)

AFP, for what it's worth, is reporting several Apaches over the battle zone.
To: Born to Conserve
That's what I thought.
But when they showed the tanks on the bridge something had to provoke the call in for air support.
So Aljazeera and Abu Dhabi are on the West side still and other reporters on East side at hotel. Now that makes since.

Yup...I agree, it wasn't brass flying up.....
To: EternalVigilance
I thought it was too, until had had time to take close examination.....I would now bet the rent it wasn't brass.......
To: Born to Conserve
Yep, pieces of building chipping up from the incoming rounds. You can see the actual jolt when the camera gets hit.

"CNN is kicking FOX's butt tonight".
Yes they are. And you are right about saying the same things. Fox must not have the connections with Abu-Dhabi.
To: Shermy
Just sent a letter to FNC letting them know I didn't appreciate their show of sympathy for a dead Al Jazeera anyone.
Remember, that "network" helped parade our POWs on TV for the world to see: scared, humiliated, and probably tortured, as well as executed and possibly defiled.
I have no tears to shed for anyone who works for them. Simon Marks can get a job there is he's so broken up about this monumentous event. If he can stop sobbing, that is.
After all, they have an opening now.

"MSNBC still talking about the supply line."
That woman, Alex Witt, is so loud and abrasive! Whenever she starts yelling and asking stupid questions, I have to switch back to hear FOX say the same thing over and over.
