That's what the guy suggested that it was an anti-tank round if it was shot at all. Attributing it to the fog-of-war because he can see no reason to shoot a sabot round at a building and maybe it was a possible reaction to a shooting.

I can see them using a sabot round to minimize any collateral damage. They knew there were reporters in there.

M1 Abrams have HEAT and Sabot..... both rounds are of different weights and have a selector switch...... if you fire a sabot on the heat setting you will observe the round go into orbit as the elevation is a lot higher than what you intended..... In this case I think they hit what they intended.... a sad mistake of the war they think they are taking fire from the building and they see a guy with binos watching them they think he is a observer and take him out.... in the situation they are in there is no time to wait for something to happen.......
