What if we had Iraqi flags made up with the word FREEDOM sewn across it?

1. How many flags - one for Baghdad or one for each major city. Or, one for each day it took to gain Iraqi freedom.

2. Perhaps, during some ceremony, after the war is completed and reconstruction starts, the flag(s) could be presented - gift(s) from the people of the United States.

It would certainly show that we aren't there to take over but, rather, the United States has a lot of CLASS! Their flag could be flown on the higher level and the Stars and Stripes a little below - just as is done in other countries when the President visits. What do you think? Who can make flags fast? Should we all chip in with a donation? How about an E-Mail signature card?

In listening to the Larry Elder Show today, an Admiral - who Larry was interviewing - was talking about American flags being raised all over Iraq and then taken down. He mentioned that we might appear to be the conquerors(?) and that other Foreign Nations would be pointing their fingers. In thinking about this, I had this idea that I thought I'd run by my fellow Freepers!

Not a good idea - Would we like to receive an American flag with .. oh, say .. "Thanks" in Arabic sewn over it ?

We are cultural and religious outsiders who will be looked upon as conquers. There is nobody I would trust in the middle east as being better than Hussein. It's an intrinsically corrupt and nutty area. Let's knock of Hussein and his pals. Destroy any weapons development. Then let's get the hell out and quaranteen the area. Anything else is a losing cause.

The only thing I would add is, any other screwups are likely to get the same treatment.

I didn't mean to imply other flags can be flown above the US flag, but that no national flag is supposed to fly above another.

Great idea, but lets expand on that. Lets start waving the Freedom or Free Iraq Iraqi flags at our support the troops rally. We should support the troops and the Free Iraq that they are bringing to the Iraqi people. This theme would look good for PR on world TV.

Equal. Also, the US flag is not dipped to salute any leader as some countries do.

I believe that might apply to the US or territories, but I don't think it would apply to a foreign country. I have a problem with US flags being flown in front of government schools, as this is not federal property. So perhaps I'm not one to judge how or where the flag should be flown.

Cause I'm not that interested. You seemed to have information ready and thought you might share it on this thread. Reckon not! I just asked where flag rules were written. I don't want to read the whole flag et-a-cat manual. :-)
