Who would direct the efforts to dig, if they were all blown to bits?

More importantly, if the Iraq regime is still in place, why did they not jump all over this to say the US bombed a civilian target? It took 12 hours for this bombing to be reported, and even then it wasn't by them.

We got 'em.

She said

Billy, don't be a hero,
Don't be a fool with your life!

Billy, don't be a hero
Come back and make me your wife!

And as he started to go,
She said Billy keep your head low, oh, oh

Billy, don't be a hero,
Come back to me.

Not only insipid, but also morally dispicable.

Maybe he really DID believe what his Information Minister was saying on TV!

I do so love a bit of irony in the morning.

So-called civilian casualties. I'm willing to bet large sums that over 90% of the "civilians" (mostly male) were not. I'm sure that's been noted here before, but I hereby note it again.

Thanks for the update on the size of the bombs by Fox. There was an article in this morning's Daily Oklahoman that the bunker buster 2000 pound bombs, GBU-31, pentrating bombs were made in McAlester, Oklahoma. The spokesman for the Army Ammunition plant said:

"We're the premier bombmakers for the Department Defense. If it falls off a plan, it is made by us."

Steel shell casing for the bunker busters are made in Garland, Texas, and fitted onto the bombs at McCalester.

"We only make the parts that go boom," Hughes said.

Other parts are added to the bombs, such as fins and triggers, before each is loaded onto an aircraft.

From page 5A, The Daily Oklahoman, 8 April 2003.

Thanks for your update. The DoD has maintained all along that they would not use the 5,000 pound bomb in civilian areas and I wanted to make sure that the facts were on here!

I've actually talked to him about that.

He's a field guy and doesn't have a say as to the look of the broadcast. He hates them, too. We agreed the banners and the crawl, as they call it, are far too distracting and take up too much screen.

Love the gif. Gotta figure out how to do that one of these days, especially would enjoy making one with a bullet hole between the eyes for those morning people!

You guys make a great point- !!!!!!!

A RESTAURANT in a CIVILIAN AREA and we hear nothing from the Iraqi hot shots about it ?? (we still haven't, really)

If this dinner place had no significance, it would be plastered all over the place as innocent civilians killed.

Tom Lehrer bump. He also wrote that in the next war, you "...could see the whole thing on your TV."

And where shall I send the royalty check?

I'll call that 'fair use' under the copyright act of 1973. No check required. =]

Lehrer was/is? just one more leftist, cool-aide drinking fool...

Maybe so, but he was first of all a satirist, and most of his songs have no political message, and those that do, are not particularly leftist. Take a look at "We are the folk song army." Or the MLF lullaby.

We got 'em.

I love how people on FR 10,000 miles away are always so sure while the Pentagon and President consitantly urge caution. As I stated before. If we got him it will become apparent quickly. Iraqis will continue to fight for Saddam as long as the believe he is alive. While many here may discount it, the fear of Saddam held by the average Iraqi is is very real and very substantial. It is what motivates his forces.

I suspect that you probably said he was dead after the FIRST decapitation attack as so many hear parroted.

Suspect away, might as well. I think I'll suspect away. I suspect that we could have his head delivered to Kim Jong Il on a platter and you still would doubt it was him.

BTW- the Pentagon officials preaching caution are aiming it at reporters, who's job is to present facts. My 'job' here is to offer my opinion. And my opinion is...

We got 'em.

Speer spent the remainder of his life in solitary confinement in Spandau prison. "Prosper" isn't the word that trips off my tongue.

I didn't know it was solitary confinement. Didn't he write books?

I hope Saddam had that moment of clarity too, but most likely if we did get him in either attack, the last thing to go through his mind would be his rectum followed by other debris.
