When you stop reading....you close your eyes. We are a great nation. Never accept, but strive to make it better.

Political Correctness will end when the USA returns to its Christian roots.

More and more people are waking up to what the left has done to this country since the sixties, demonizing anyone who has religious faith and tries to practice it. I just hope it isn't too late to turn around and repair the damage they've caused to our institutions.

The author of this piece could make it better by educating this silly woman he admires so much on the proper day to file tax returns.

Now he's a common, common man, Tax him, tax him all you can. Tax his house and tax his bed, Tax the bald spot on his head. Tax his bread and tax his meat, Tax his shoes right off his feet. Tax his auto and tax his gas, Tax the road that he must pass. Tax the farmer, tax his fowl, Tax the dog and tax his howl. Tax his plow and tax his clothes, Tax the rags that wipe his nose. Tax the pig and tax his squeal, Tax his boots, run down at the heel. Tax his cow and tax his calf, Tax him if he dares to laugh. Tax the water and tax the air, Tax the sunshine if you dare. Tax the living, tax the dead, Tax the unborn 'fore they're fed. Tax them all and tax them well, do your best to make life hell." --Anonymous.

THE MESSAGE OF THIS THREAD:

Never criticize, never compare, stay ignorant of the world, this is paradise, or almost it, make it better, nirvana, if you don't like it, go back to Cuba!

Lame, ignorant, chauvinistic, predictable responses. Stay stupid, or go back to Cuba!

If oyu would have read the post you'd realize the author is comparing our beaurocracy with a dictatorship, where the people cannot change anything. It's nonsense.

I used to laugh at the libertarians. Liberty I thought came with due diligence and a strong adherence to common principles and historically established community standards. I think I am right, but the libertarian message is looking better to me all the time.
I just want my freedom back. I don't want to overthrow the government, start a civil war, protest in the streets or terrorize my fellow Americans. I just want my freedom back!

Well said. -- But then, of course, we get hysterical replies like this, from 'the spur':

"Why, if we listened to the Libertarians, Saddam Hussein would still be jerkin' Hans Blix around and making fools of the civilized world! -ss-

Not from this constitutional libertarian, sinky.. -- I'm on record as in favor of making Mecca into a wasteland as of about 10/11/01.

You communitarian clowns are the ones that want to 'rebuild iraq' into some sort of democraptic paradise.

That's not true, the US has lots of problems, I for one cannot stand seatbelt laws either which the author mentions, started in NY State of course, they are intrusive and in your face big brother. And there are plenty of laws similar to them.

But looking at all the countries of the world, I still can't think of any other place I'd rather be. At least here we can work to change bad laws.

Don't try that we are all immiagrants crap with me, I was born here. I didn't come from some festering crap hole to talk about how bad it is here.

BTW, For the life of me I can't think of a country I'm will to go to flee my "oppression" here. Yeah there are things that need changing, but some author trying to be cute isn't impressing me.

This is a good post, most of which most FReepers would agree with (these are the issues we've been discussing and
arguing about for years) but, to make his point, the author paints Iraqi "freedoms" with too broad a brush, How many Iraqis start businesses, even with no laws to stop them?
How many Shi'ites, who are after all the majority in the country, and how many Kurds? This is like pointing to the high literacy rate in Cuba without mentioning that most of what they are given to read is partyline propaganda.
